GATHERING IN GODS NAME. The gathering of the Community & welcome. Anne Turner The symbol of Annes leadership is placed on the Table. (Praying Woman, candle and towel) Archdeacon Heather Greeting. The peace of Christ be with you. And also with you. Sentence. My grace is sufficient for you, says the Lord, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Music. CD Call to Worship. We stand as we are able.

We are always a broken body, but we are the Body of Christ. With the faithful who go before us, we are the Body of Christ. In Christ is our unity, In Christ is our wholeness. Thanks be to God. Hymn. 473 Community of Christ 1. Community of Christ, who make the Cross your own, live out your creed and risk your life for God alone: the God who wears your face, to whom all worlds belong, whose children are of every race and every song.
2

2. Community of Christ, look past the Church's door and see the refugee, the hungry, and the poor. Take hands with the oppressed, the jobless in your street, take towel and water, that you wash your neighbour's feet. 3. Community of Christ, through whom the word must sound cry out for justice and for peace the whole world round: disarm the powers that war and all that can destroy, turn bombs to bread, and tears of anguish into joy. 4. When menace melts away, so shall God's will be done, the climate of the world be peace and Christ its Sun; our currency be love and kindliness our law, our food and faith be shared as one for evermore.
Shirley Erena Murray 1931-

CONFESSION AND ASSURANCE OF PARDON. Please be seated. As we come before God in confession, let us reflect on the symbols at the centre of our life. Silence is kept. (The bread and wine are brought to the table)
3

In our failure to be the Church of love and grace, we drink a common cup and break the common loaf. In our sharing in injustice and violence against the people of the world, we drink a common cup and break the common loaf. In our lack of faith and courage to follow the way of the cross, we drink a common cup and break the common loaf. Assurance of pardon. In our brokenness and in our humanness, the Christ is one with us. In Christ we are set free. In Christ we are enough to be the Church. Amen. Prayer of the day. Almighty God, whose apostles Peter and Paul glorified you in their deaths as in their lives: grant that your Church, inspired by their teaching and example, and knit together in unity by your Spirit, may ever stand firm upon the one foundation, your Son Jesus Christ our Lord; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

THE MINISTRY OF THE WORD A reading from Pauls Second Letter to Timothy. Jane Macqueen

As for me, I am already being poured out as a libation, and the time of my departure has come. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. From now on there is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have longed for his appearing. Do your best to come to me soon, for Demas, in love with this present world, has deserted me and gone to Thessalonica; Crescens has gone to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia. Only Luke is with me. Get Mark and bring him with you, for he is useful in my ministry. I have sent Tychicus to Ephesus. When you come, bring the cloak that I left with Carpus at Troas, also the books, and above all the parchments. Alexander the coppersmith did me great harm; the Lord will pay him back for his deeds. You also must beware of him, for he strongly opposed our message. At my first defense no one came to my support, but all deserted me. May it not be counted against them! But the Lord stood by me and gave me strength, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it. So I was rescued from the lion's mouth. The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and save me for his heavenly kingdom. To him be the glory forever and ever. Amen. 2 Timothy 4: 6-18 Silent reflection. This passage from Pauls second letter to Timothy follows on from Pauls words of encouragement for Timothy to be true to God and live out his ministry in a full and life giving way, despite the obstacles. Psalm 34: 1-10 Brian Turner

That we may trust that joy is at the heart of pain even when the pain is overwhelming, especially when there is nothing we can do for those we love. We shall bless you, O God, at all times, your praise opening our lips. We shall exult your name alone: the afflicted will hear and be glad. We give the Pain-bearer thanks: we magnify the name of our Lord.
5

With the strings that are taut with pain compose new music of joy. I sought your help and you answered, you freed me from all my fears. We look towards you and are radiant: our faces will not be ashamed. With the strings that are taut with pain compose new music of joy. The cry of the poor reaches your ears, you saved us out of our trouble. Your angels guard and protect us, bringing your radiance near. With the strings that are taut with pain compose new music of joy. So we taste and see how gracious and good is our God. You meet us in the depth of our pain; those who love you and fear you lack nothing. Pain-bearer God, in our affliction we sense your presence, moving with our sufferings to redeem them, bringing joy out of tragedy, creating such music as the world has not yet heard. We praise you with great praise. Out of the silence. Jim Cotter Hymn. 1. TIS 201 King of glory

King of glory, King of peace, I will love thee; and, that love may never cease, I will move thee. Thou hast granted my request, thou hast heard me; thou didst note my working breast, thou hast spared me.
6

2.

Wherefore with my utmost art I will sing thee, and the cream of all my heart I will bring thee. Though my sins against me dried, thou didst clear me; and alone, when they replied, thou didst hear me. Seven whole days, not one in seven, I will praise thee; in my heart, though not in heaven, I can raise thee. Small it is, in this poor sort to enrol thee: evn eternitys too short to extol thee.

The Gospel. The Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to John Glory to you Lord Jesus Christ.

When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord; you know that I love you." Jesus said to him, "Feed my lambs." A second time he said to him, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord; you know that I love you." Jesus said to him, "Tend my sheep." He said to him the third time, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" Peter felt hurt because he said to him the third time, "Do you love me?" And he said to him, "Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you." Jesus said to him, "Feed my sheep. Very truly, I tell you, when you were younger, you used to fasten your own belt and to go wherever you wished. But when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will fasten a belt around you and take you where you do not wish to go." (He said this to indicate the kind of death by which he would glorify God.) After this he said to him, "Follow me."
7

Peter turned and saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following them; he was the one who had reclined next to Jesus at the supper and had said, "Lord, who is it that is going to betray you?" When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, "Lord, what about him?" Jesus said to him, "If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you? Follow me!" John 21: 15-22 For the Gospel of the Lord, praise to you Lord Jesus Christ. Reflection. Kate Campbell

Music for reflection. CD. Affirmation of Faith. The people of God have a human face We laugh, we weep, we wait in hope. We lift our eyes, and stub our toes, we love, and struggle, we fail we stand and always we stand on trembling ground. But God is God and Jesus in the Christ and the Spirit will lift up our feet. God is in the centre, God is at our endings. Nothing lies beyond the love of God in Christ.

THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE Let us bring before God our prayers of intercession for the world and the Church. Intercessions follow, led by Chris Venning. Response: Come Holy Spirit, come, renew the whole creation. Anam Cara Community Gippsland Prayer. Together God of the journey, creating, present, making us whole, we bless you for your abiding presence throughout our pilgrimage in this Anam Cara Community. You have loaned us one to another, for this life season, to share our joy, discovery and experience of your mystery, that we may be both blessing and blessed. You walk with us through our wilderness, causing the dry deserts of our hearts to bloom; you transform the darkness of our despair to brightest dawn; you hold us up in the river of life, carrying us safe to shore. As we seek to know you ever more deeply, and to love you more fiercely, encounter, confront and refine us, and fit us to be soul friends, to each other, to ourselves, to seekers and searchers after you. As Christ shared his life, love and knowledge with others, so may we increasingly resemble him. May our community grow and flourish as we travel this road in Christ's steps, and as you draw others to join us on this path. In the strong, the healing, the gentle name of Christ we pray. Amen.

Accept our prayers through Jesus Christ our Lord, who taught us to pray, Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your Kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen. WELCOMING OF NEW ASSOCIATES REAFFIRMATION OF EXISTING ASSOCIATES COMMISSIONING OF SERVANT LEADERS COMMISSIONING OF THE NEW SOUL CARER OF THE ANAM CARA COMMUNITY. Retiring Soul Carer Anne Turner will pray a prayer of thanksgiving for her role as the inaugural Soul Carer of the Anam Cara Community Gippsland. Associates will have the opportunity to speak at a presentation to Anne during lunch. Anne will receive her symbols of leadership and then lead the welcome for new associates and the reaffirmation for existing associates.

New associates and existing associates stand in their places. God does not wait for us to become perfect, before showing us the measure of Gods love, or commissioning us to serve God in our world.

10

Welcoming of new associates. Let us pray Gracious God, we dare to believe that you are calling us to commit to the ministry of contemplative prayer and the inward journey within the Anam Cara Community. We claim the privileges of serving you as Associates of the Community. We pray through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. New associates together We will, by Gods grace, bring freshness, serenity, exploration and a new sense of balance between doing and being into our own lives, this communitys life, into our faith communities, the wider church and beyond. Reaffirmation by existing associates. Let us pray Gracious God, stir into flame the gifts you have given us, and the faith to use them without reserve. May your Spirit be a force of cohesion in our community, of life giving energy in our work, and our strength when times are hard. We pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.

11

All associates together Gracious God, as your disciples, make us know the freedom to move into the unknown and the untried, to seize the opportunities you hold out to us, and as a community, to serve prayerfully and creatively with love and compassion, those who seek to know you more intimately. We pray through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. We covenant to be faithful participants in the ongoing life of this community, and to take our place as associates and leaders for this next year. Associates are seated. The Servant Leadership: Colin, Jane, Heather, Marion, Kate, Carolyn, Jan, Sue, Chris, Jeannette, Anne and Brian, stand in their places. Commissioning of the Servant Leadership. Archdeacon Heather. There are many different gifts, but it is the same Spirit who gives them. There are many different ways of serving God, but it is the same God who is served. God works through different people in different ways, but it is the same God whose purpose is at work in them all. Each one is given a gift by the Spirit to use it for the common good. Together we have many different gifts, together we have a ministry of soul care and spiritual journeying, led by Gods Spirit.
12

Will you, with Gods help, serve this community with energy, intelligence, creativity and love? Will you make its welfare your concern, and seek to be sensitive to the needs of its members? Will you accept praise and not become proud, criticism and not lose heart, and be a friend to those with whom you serve, so that together you may assist our community in the continuing task of discovering the mind of Christ, and therefore the ministry we have to offer? Response of leaders. I do, and I will by the grace of God. The Servant Leadership are seated. Commissioning of the Community Soul Carers. We accept them gladly. Associates address all the Servant Leaders. Recognising the gifts you have to offer, we now set you apart, as persons in whom we can put our confidence and trust. We call and commission you to be the Soul Carers, Gatherers and Leaders of the Anam Cara Community. We welcome you joyfully into your role for the coming year. THE GREETING OF PEACE Christ has reconciled us to God in one body by the cross. We meet in his name and share his peace. The peace of the Lord be always with you. And also with you. Hymn. 1. TIS 658 Here I am Lord

I, the Lord of sea and sky, I have heard my people cry. All who dwell in dark and sin my hand will save. I who made the stars of night, I will make their darkness bright, who will bear my light to them? whom shall I send?
14

Here I am Lord; is it I, Lord? I have heard you calling in the night; I will go, Lord, if you lead me. I will hold your people in my heart. 2. I, the Lord of snow and rain, I have borne my peoples pain; I have wept for love of them. They turn away. I will break their hearts of stone, give them hearts for love alone, I will speak my word to them. Whom shall I send? Here I am Lord; is it I, Lord? I have heard you calling in the night; I will go, Lord, if you lead me. I will hold your people in my heart. I, the Lord of wind and flame, I will tend the poor and lame; I will set a feast for them. My hand will save. Finest bread I will provide till their hearts are satisfied. I will give my life to them. Whom shall I send? Here I am Lord; is it I, Lord? I have heard you calling in the night; I will go, Lord, if you lead me. I will hold your people in my heart.

THE GREAT THANKSGIVING May God be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them to our God Let us adore and exalt our God. It is right to give our thanks and praise. Spirit of God, who breathes fire into our very existence, filling us with joy; we worship you, we praise you, we recognise the symbol of your presence, your promise to be with us on our journey. We claim the sign of renewal given to those who form your community, now, as in Jerusalem over two thousand years ago. For you came to your own, filling them with confidence, sweeping through their lives, bringing joy and wholeness, clarity and vision, hope and peace. You enlightened their existence, enabled their mission, empowered them to be ministers of your word. So with all those who followed you throughout your ministry, who watched you die and rise again, and with all those who inspired and supported the early Church, we praise you, saying: Holy, holy, God of all power! Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Praise to you God most high. Blessed is the One who comes in the name of our God. Praise to you, God most high. Blessed is Christ our brother, who fills us with a sense of being one people, one community. On the night he was betrayed, he took bread, gave thanks, and broke it, saying: This is my body, which is given for you. Do this to remember me. In the same way, after supper, he took the cup, blessed it and said: This cup is the new covenant made in my blood. Do this whenever you drink it, to remember me.
16

Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again. As one community we rejoice in your gifts, we accept responsibility for our particular ministry; we trust in your Spirit of challenge; we welcome your presence in this bread and wine. Filled with longing for your deep and disturbing presence to be revealed to us, we praise you with all who have derived inspiration from you and followed you through the ages. Come now, pour your Spirit on us so we are better able to proclaim your message, see new visions, dream new dreams. in the name of Christ. Through him, with him, in him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all honour and glory be given to you, O God our Source and Inspiration, now and forever. Blessing and honour and glory and power are yours for ever and ever. Amen. THE BREAKING OF THE BREAD AND COMMUNION. We break this bread to share in the body of Christ. We who are many are one body, for we all share in the one bread. Jesus, Lamb of God, have mercy on us. Jesus, bearer of our sin, have mercy on us. Jesus redeemer of the world, grant us your peace. The gifts of God for the people of God. Come, let us take.................. Communion. We will receive communion in our places, standing as we are able.
17

THE SENDING OUT OF GOD'S PEOPLE. Gracious God, take us now and place our feet on the road that leads to the horizons of your unfolding future, the future to which the Spirit draws us, and from which the crucified and risen one comes to meet us. Most loving God, you send us into the world you love. Give us grace to go thankfully and with courage in the power of your Spirit. Hymn. Anam Cara Praise, My Soul 87.87.87

The symbol of the Anam Cara Community Gippsland. The circle depicts the soul journey into God, the inner circles and outgoing lines speak of making a journey within and without. The lines make up the sign of the cross, the central Christian symbol. The inner circles are an aboriginal symbol for meeting place and we have received permission to use this symbol from the local elders, as they understood what it means for us as a contemplative prayer community.
