Global Bhatia Foundation (GBF) is a dream organization for every Bhatia staying anywhere in the globe. By having an umbrella organization, a platform will be available to link each community member with all. Inspired by the vision of Shri Vallabhdas Karsandas Natha a humble effort has been made by committed volunteers to establish GBF and then take up projects that are of National stature. The founder members of GBF are all the Managing Committee members.

First Meeting of eminent personalities of Bhatia Community was held at Indian Merchants Chambers, Mumbai-July 31, 2010 Managing Committee of Global Bhatia Foundation was formed-Dec 18, 2010 Global Bhatia Foundation Office started functioning from the premises of Shri Nitin Dossa at Dossa Mansion, Sir PM Road, Fort - Jan 1, 2011 Bank Account of GBF opened January 10, 2011 First Event National Meet of Bhatia Organisations was organized-Jan 23, 2011 Second event Parichay Milan for 384 Bhatia Boys & Girls organised-March 23, 2011 Third event - Bhatia Food Festival (18 item cuisine) organised on March 23, 2011, 800 food lovers enjoyed it GBF Website was launched on Jan 23, 2011. GBF obtained it's Registration on April 26, 2011 (Reg. No. 1266 under Society's Act 21 of 1860 of Maharashtra State, Mumbai ) Fourth event An Interactive session with Dr. Mukul Asher (National University of Singapore) on Importance of Education and Livelihood Opportunities organized June 4, 2011 A case study of the Bhatia community ( A History ) A Ph.D. Thesis By Dr. Mangala B. Purandare, University of Mumbai has been taken up for Publication by GBF. GBF has appointed Dr. Mangala Purandare as an official Archiever for GBF for writing Volume-2 on Bhatia Community which will include all the prominent bhatias & organizations created by Bhatias till present date. This book is published on January 15, 2012. 4 White papers viz. Housing for All Bhatias, Higher Education, Single Window, Home for the Aged Bhatias, were prepared and discussed by the Board of Trustees and suitable strategy for each project has been formulated Fifth event "Aptitude Test and Career Counseling Project" organised on July 17 & 24,2011 at 2 locations (HPT School-Churchgate & KES College-Kandivali) for Bhatia students (Std-IX toXII). Global Census Project initiated on Jan 23, 2011 Bhatia Business Directory Project initiated on January 23, 2011 GBF Annual Sports was organised on December 11, 2011, January 1, 2012 & January 8, 2012. Parichay Milan-2012 was organised on January 28 & 29, 2012 at Shri Sunderbai Hall, Churchgate. GBF Facebook was launched in February 2012. Employment Guidance Cell Commenced. Entrepreneurship Development Division Established GBF will take up limited projects per year with a sense of Quality & not Quantity in view and make honest efforts to win confidence of Bhatia Community across the globe. INTRODUCTION
Global Bhatia Foundation (GBF) is a concept that has been thought over, discussed, planned and proposed from time to time by various groups of Bhatia community and till the year 2008, it hasn't taken a concrete shape. A visionary like Late Shri Vallabhdas Karsondas Natha was a thought leader for the GBF concept. In this document, an attempt is made to make a humble beginning to give a shape to the overall project. A vacuum exists for the domains listed in this document. This document is prepared as an introduction for all the team members and volunteers to implement the projects of GBF. TWO-TIER TEAM (Directive Management & Operation Management) A two-Tier team will manage the Project viz. An Advisory Board (Through Board of Trustees) who'll give direction and Guidance & an Implementation team who'll have a Project Coordinator and team members for each project. ADVISORY BOARD: All Bhatia Industrialists, Entrepreneurs, Businessmen, Professionals and Trustees of the charitable trusts. The list is prepared as a separate document. POOL: Several selfless volunteers working for Bhatia organizations across the nation, All Bhatia Institutions (Registered) across the country and overseas and other experienced workers, etc. A separate document, enlisting all the Project Coordinators (PCs) is prepared for the purpose. Several selfless volunteers have come forward for the projects of GBF.

HEAD QUARTERS
Global Bhatia Foundation (GBF) is a not for profit, National body of entire Bhatia Community (overseas Bhatia included) and intends to be an umbrella organisation for all the organisations of Bhatia Community. GBF has commenced its operations from its office located at 1/6, Dossa Mansion, Sir P. M. Road, Fort, Mumbai - 400001 from January 1, 2011. Shri Nitin Dossa (Trustee) has been kind enough to let his premises used for GBF Office without charging any rent. The umbrella organization has a dream for an exclusive building with basic infrastructure. All the team members shall work towards acquiring or building GBF Head Quarters. All the project coordinators shall use this office (GBF-HQ) for the project work. All the volunteers shall be paid/reimbursed all the expenses (Travel, Telephone, Staying charges while on outstation duty, Tea-coffee-snacksLunch-Dinner) at the actuals while on duty. The GBF will have following team as a permanent staff at the HQ Office Administrator (Board Secretary cum coordinator for the project coordinators cum Accounts Manager), Office Assistant to assist Executive secretary. This team may be increased in future, based on the workload and actual requirement of manpower. If need arises, Board of Trustees may appoint a full time CEO on salary/honorarium to oversee success of all the projects under implementation. The GBF has a website www.globalbhatia.org and an email facility to link with Global Bhatias. The Administrator will open and answer / forward all the mails. The GBF is proposed to run in a professional manner as a large corporate house. As and when major projects kick off and funds position permits, GBF shall look for it's own independent office with adequate cubicles, a conference room, a reception area, pantry, toilet block, parking space, server room, projector, record room and a museum for the history of Bhatia community.

MANAGEMENT PROFILE
SHRI MANSINGH L. BHAKTA - Hon. Legal Advisor

Shri Mansingh Laxmidas Bhakta is Senior Partner of M/s. Kanga & Co., Advocates & Solicitors. Mr. Bhakta has been in practice for over 55 years and has vast experience in the legal field particularly on matters relating to corporate laws, banking and taxation. He has been a Independent Non-Executive Director of Ambuja Cements Ltd. since September 1985. Mr. Bhakta has been an Independent Director of Reliance Industries Limited since September 1977 and serves as its Lead Independent Director. He serves as a Director of Micro Inks Ltd., JCB Manufacturing Limited and JCB India Limited. He serves as a Trustee at Indian Merchants' Chambers. He served as a Non Executive Director of Larsen & Toubro Ltd. He was the Chairman of the Taxation Law Standing Committee of LAWASIA. He is Recipient of Rotary Centennial Service Award for Professional Excellence from Rotary International. He is listed as one of the Leading Lawyers of Asia for Six consecutive years from 2006 to 2011 by Asialaw, Hongkong. Mr. Bhakta is graduate in Arts and Law. His personal collection of more than 500 idols of Lord Ganesh is very unique and his home is a Museum of Ganapati. His faith and obsession with Shri Ganesh is perhaps a secret of his long life, Good Health, Exemplary Career and very high respect amongst the corporate world and legal fraternity.

SHRI VITHALDAS G. UDESHI - Trustee

Shri Vithaldas G. Udeshi started his career with Jayant Oil Mills, a partnership firm, in 1952, and was inducted as partner of the firm in 1953. Thereafter the said firm was converted into a Company in 1973 and he continued to be a whole time Director of the said Company, viz; Jayant Vegoils & Chemicals. He was also on the Board of Directors of Jayant Oil Products Pvt. Ltd., Jayant Industrial and Scientific Research, Jayant Sebacates Pvt. Ltd. During his tenure as Group Chairman of the above Companies, the Jayant Oil Mills Prop. Jayant Vegoils & Chemicals Ltd., secured Export House Status in 1974 and thereafter Trading House Status in 1983. He was holding Directorship position in these Companies upto 5th March, 2002. Mr. Vithaldas G. Udeshi was Vice-Chairman of Chemexcil and Director of the International Castor Oil Association. He is a Technocrat Entrepreneur with an excellent track record in industrial and marketing Management. He is widely traveled and is keeping himself abreast with the latest technical, technological and regulatory developments in the castor oil world by virtue of a position he occupied in the above companies. Mr. Vithaldas G. Udeshi is a Director and Chairman of Jayant Agro-Organics Ltd., since its incorporation 7th May, 1992 and he is also Director/Chairman of Jayant Finvest Ltd., Ihsedu Agrochem Pvt. Ltd. and Gokulmani Real Estate Development Pvt. Ltd. Thus, he has more than 50 years of experience in this line of business. He is committed to bring back the Past Glory of Bhatia Community.

SHRI ASHWIN CHAMPRAJ SHROFF - Trustee Shri Shroff after Graduating in Chemistry from Bombay University in 1965 joined Excel Industries. Moving through various operational and functional departments in Excel Industries Ltd, he rose to become its Chairman and Managing Director. He is past President of Indian Chemical Council (formerly, Indian Chemical Manufacturers Association). He has been a regular participant in various study groups, conferences, seminars and has contributed papers on diverse subjects. Shri Shroff is committed to purposeful contributions in Social Development. He is Trustee of Vivekanand Research & Training Institute (VRTI), a voluntary organization based in Kutchh, Gujarat, dedicated for Sustainable Agricultural & Rural Development. He has been Executive Committee Member of Kutchh Navnirman Abhiyan, a Federation of Voluntary Organizations in Kutchh, Gujarat formed in 2001 post-earth quake for rehabilitation of people & redevelopment of the earthquake affected region in Gujarat. Shri Shroff is also associated with Management Educational Institutes viz SIES College of Management Studies (SIESCOM) & Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS). SHRI CHETAN MERCHANT - Trustee


Shri Chetan Merchant is an MBA from University of Mumbai and an ardent sportsman. He played Cricket and represented his school in Harris Shield and Guiles Shield as well as for Football. Being a family member of famous Parmananddas Jivandas family (P.J.Hindu Gymkhana) he has inherited Sports and sportsmanship. Being brought up and groomed by late Shri Prakash Merchant (elder cousin brother of Chetan), Chetan has proved himself a worthy, noble and philanthropic Bhatia who is managing huge wealth and assets of Merchant family and Trusts located at Mumbai, Mahabaleshwar, Matheran, and Jam Khambhalia. Chetan has gained a valuable experience for Wealth Management from Development Bank of Singapore where he was a country head for the same portfolio. Chetan is a Trustee for Thakkar Ranchhoddas Kanji & Laxmidas Damji Charity Trust which is a blessing for thousands of students who receive scholarships and medical assistance . He is also a trustee for Paramananddas Jivandas Charity Trust. He is also Vice President of Shri Mumbai Halai Bhatia Mahajan, a 153 year old organization. He is a Chairman of Board of Trustees of P.J.Hindu Gymkhana. Chetan is a youngest trustee of Global Bhatia Foundation and his vision is to bring all the segments of Bhatia community under common umbrella and channelise the community assets for achieving the goals of Global Bhatia Community and bring back the past glory.

SHRI NITIN DOSSA - Trustee


Shri Nitin Dossa is Executive Chairman of Western India Automobile Association (WIAA), Founder Director of Motor Sports Association of India (MAI), President of Vintage & Classic Car Club of India (VCCCI) and Indian Automotive Racing Club Ltd. (IARC). The VCCCI is affiliated to FIVA (Federation Internationale Vehicules Anciens) which is the International body for vintage cars. The VCCCI helps members in restoration of their vehicles and in sourcing spares and today the VCCCI has 158 members. He is also the Chairman of WIAA-Castrol Institute of Motoring (WCIM), THE FIRST Road Safety Institute established in Ahmedabad. Mr. Dossa is the first Indian to be unanimously elected as the Vice President of Alliance Internationale de Tourisme (AIT), the World body of Mobility based in Paris. Mr. Nitin Dossa serves as Treasurer and Director of Insurance Brokers Association of India (IBAI) and his Business units are Dossa Chemicals Pvt. Ltd., Dossa Properties Pvt. Ltd., Dossa Insurance & Broking Services Ltd. He has been in the Insurance business for more than 40 years.

SHRI DILIP MULANI - Trustee


Shri Dilip Mulani is Managing Director of Khimji Poonja Freight Forwarders Pvt. Ltd, a firm registered in 1922 and actively dealing in Cotton, Oil Seeds, Bullion then. Since 1946, Company established Clearing and Forwarding department, which has now become one of the leading contributory to the group activities. It is the family managed Group of Companies with a fine balance between personalised and professional management. KP Group is also an ISO Certified company. KP Group provides employment and support to 300 families. The KP Group has PAN India presence in the form of Branches in Delhi, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Vizag, Hyderabad & Kolkatta. The company has Global Associates for providing Total Logistics Solution for various ......................................Blue Chip Companies and MNCs. KP Group have specialized in Project Shipment, SEZ, STPI Schemes, SVB Clearances / Transfer Pricing, Drawback's, Re-Export, Re-Import, Software Clearances, Reverse Logistics. KP Group has been awarded the SAMMAN PATRA for the two consecutive years by the Chief Commissioner of Customs, Government of India, Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue, Mumbai Customs Zone, for valuable contribution to the Customs Revenue during the financial year 1998-1999 & 1999-2000 to the Commissionerate of Customs, Nhava Sheva and Air Cargo Complex. KP Group has established Charitable Trust in the name of Poonja Anandji Charitable Trust (PACT) to channelise their various philanthropic activities. The prime focus being in the area in the native region of Nirona, Kutch where the Trust have extended their support for Primary School, Secondary School, Girl's School, a Dispensary, People's Library, a Temple and a Bhatia Mahajanwadi. PACT has undertaken pioneering efforts in mobilizing resources and helping people of Nirona during Cyclone and Earthquake. Their attachment for Kutch and inclination to uplift people of Nirona is very strong. KP Group distribute books, uniforms and other aids for the students of Nirona. He like any other noble Bhatia family is shy of publicity.

SHRI SHIRISH M. ANJARIA - Trustee


Shri Shirish M. Anjaria, the Managing Director of Dynacons Technologies Limited, is a business leader with successful & fruitful career of over 4 decades. He has wide experience across industries and has rich exposure in Business Management, Corporate Affairs and Customer Relations. He is a graduate in Science and holds a post graduate degree in Law. He is a Certified Associate of the Federation of Insurance Institutes. He is the promoter and founder of Dynacons Systems & Solutions Limited. He is currently the Chairman and Managing Director of Dynacons Systems & Solutions Limited and has spearheaded the growth of the company from a start-up and is currently one of the leading IT Infrastructure Solutions Providers in the country. Under his Chairmanship, Dynacons has forged strategic alliances with global IT majors such as IBM, Intel, HP, Microsoft, Lenovo, Sony, Cisco etc. He was also the founder of the Millenium PC initiative which was recognised by Intel, USA.

SHRI NALIN DWARKADAS SAMPAT - Trustee


Shri Nalinbhai has graduated in Science from Khalsa College, Mumbai and is managing an ever thrieving business of Film processing since 1971. India Cine Labs & Jyoti studio is a flagship company of Sampat Family since 1940. His company has processed over 500 films. Nalinbhai belongs to the famous pioneer film makers family viz. Shri Ramdas Sampat (grandfather), and Shri Dwarkadas Sampat (father), contemporary of Late Dadasaheb Phalke. He became famous for his covertly political film Bhakt Vidur. Nalinbhai is a proud owner of machine that processed Alam Ara. Nalinbhai started Photo lab in 1985, colour processing lab in 1985 and won award from Lions Club International for highlighting drug awareness in community in 1988. He is Chairman of Lions Club of Sion Education project from 1985. He is responsible for honouring students and teachers and conducting Elocution on annual basis. He is attached to Lions Club of Sion since 1978 & Member of Jain Jagruti. He believes that Education is the bedrock through which our community can progress. We also need to spread awareness in the younger generation about our roots to ensure that the Bhatia legacy continues. Our community has helped build Bombay and thus the nation. We must continue doing so. His son, Jvalant Sampat is author of book on WW2 The Tenth Unknown.

SHRI KAUSHAL SAMPAT - Trustee Shri Kaushal is presently President & CEO of Dun & Bradstreet India. Prior to this, he has held several strategic and operational roles in D&Bs various business units, having joined D&B India as a Business Analyst in 1998. In a career spanning over 15 years, he has played a key role in developing new businesses for the company in India. These have included Sales & Marketing Solutions, Economic Analysis Group, Financial Education Solutions & Hoovers. In 2007, when he took over as the Chief Operating Officer, Kaushal spearheaded the company's strategic initiatives and alliances in India. In his previous roles, he has been responsible for the operations of D&Bs Risk Management Solutions business in the Middle East and Africa and for D&Bs ecommerce initiatives in the ASEAN/South Asia markets.

SHRI GHANSHAM PRABHUDAS MONANI - Trustee


Shri Ghansham Prabhudas Monani (Mohanlal Nagji Ni Co Rajkot) was born in Sangli Maharashtra. Raised in Bangalore till 8th Std. From 9th Std onwards he made Mumbai his home, dwelling in Bhatia Boarding (Bhatia Balrakshak Vidhyalay Borivli) during School Days and Tejpal Dormitory whilst at the University. During those wonderful years (Late 60s early 70s), Ghansham had the good fortune to get hands-on training under Highly efficient Managers From Thackerseys be it Laxmi Sprinklers from Kalachowki or Bhor Industries at Bhor or at Baroda or at Prabhadevi Culminating at Vithaldas Chambers. Armed with such valuable Training Ghansham Left (1975) to work for the then Highly Lucrative Construction Industry in the Middle East. Volatility of the Industry and the region made Ghansham a truly Global Indian Bhatia forever Grateful to his Community and the spirit of enterprise he learnt from his mentors in the community. He still works in construction industry and lives with his spouse for 36 years in Abudhabi . With the aid of a Daughter who has doctoral qualifications in Social work and a son with Post Graduate Qualifications in Mass Communications involved in Documentary/advertising films and Journalism, Ghansham will focus to the Foundations' agenda on Community Pensioner's Dignity, generic needs and his / her useful contribution to development of enterprise in community adolescents.

Shri Mukul G Asher, Professor of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore, was educated in India and the United States. His research focuses on public finance and social security issues in Asia. He has published extensively in national and international journals and has authored or edited more than ten books. He serves on the Editorial Board or on the Advisory Board of several journals including International Social Security Review. He has been a consultant to several Governments in Asia on tax policy and pension reforms; and to multi-lateral institutions including the Asian Development Bank, the World Bank, and the World Health Organization. Shri Yashwant Hansraj Sampat, fondly known as Yashwant Latwalla is chairman of Latwalla Investments Private Limited, Mumbai. He was born at Kutch Mandvi and belongs to M/s. Naranjee Hirjee Family, a reputed business house at MuscatOman. He studied at Bai Kabibai High School and Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics in Mumbai and gained Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1967. Other Rotary Clubs have also got a hint of this novel idea and have followed the same. In association with his Rotary Club, he has donated a Bal Udyan, Lakhmiben Hansraj Latwalla Bal Udyan, in memory of his mother at Mandvi-Kutch near Rotary Service Centre and Swaminarayan Temple. In addition to this, he and his wife Anandi have made several donations under Golden Hearts Fellow scheme. His son Mehul is also an active member of Rotary Club Of Bombay. Save The Children India (STCI): In loving memory of his parents, he and his family have contributed to the state of the art, 5-storey building of Save The Children India, (STCI) at Bandra-Kurla Complex, next to Dhirubhai Ambani School and American School Of Bombay. They are the major donors of this 5-storey School Building. In appreciation of this contribution, STCI has very kindly put up plaques of his parents at the entrance of the School. Further, the building has been appropriately named as Lakhmiben Hansraj Latwalla Special Care Centre in fond memory of his mother. Shri Pankajbhai, born in 1947, completed his education in south Mumbai and obtained Diploma in MMTC (Man Made Textile Chemistry) from SASMIRA (THE SYNTHETIC & ART SILK MILLS' RESEARCH ASSOCIATION) College in Mumbai. After completion of his studies he started business in textile under the name of Dhanji Mulji & Co. He moved to chemical business after a decade. He has also dealt in Imported Car buying and selling. Since last more than 35 years. He is investor in Stocks and Real Estate. Shri Pankajbhai is Trustee of Dhanji Mulji Dharamshala at Jagannath Puri. He was Managing Trustee for the period 1998 to 2000 at Shri Halai Bhatia Mahajan, Mumbai.

Shri Haridas is a seasoned IT consultant having rich experience of 30 years in IT, Consulting and Banking industry. He is a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and has served as a National Chairman of ISACA Grab Task Force in India and Chapter president of Mumbai. He is also ISO 27001 Lead Assessor, Six sigma Black belt, Certified Independent Director and post graduate in Computer Management as well as Financial Management. He has been Managing Consultant with Ernst & Young, an industry specialist with Tata Unisys and CEO of Singlepoint Associates, which merged with ICICI InfoTech. He was head of Consulting practice of 3i Infotech. He is trained for Advanced Network security by SANS, USA. He is specialized in Implementing ISO 27001, Strategic consulting and Business Continuity. He has about 50 large completed assignments to his credit. His articles are published in various magazines and newspapers. He is an invited speaker at various forums and institutions that includes Asiacacs 2004-Dubai, ISACA International Conference 2005, Oslo-Norway, Defence HQ-India, Ministry of Home Affairs- Govt of India, Central Bank of Srilanka and various chambers of Commerce. He has guided Defence HQ for web security and IBA for Electronic storage of Records. He has served on RBI Committee for Information Securities Standards. Shri Pradyumna Ved has devoted his life to others. By donating his blood for 114 times, he has served the mankind in a noble way. He has motivated others too for blood donation and saved several lives. He has served National Association of blind for several years. He is main force in building up a team of disciplined and selfless volunteers of Global Bhatia Foundation. He has studied in Poddar College, Mumbai and served Thackersey group for 15 years under Shri Vijay Merchant & Shri Sudhir Thackersey. He has a rich experience of Insurance sector where he served for 22 years as a Director of Mankad and Associates. Retired now, Pradyumna is fully devoted to the successful implementation of Projects of Global Bhatia Foundation.

COMMUNITY THINK TANK

To think and plan for the new projects for GBF and ensure success of each project. BASIC REQUIREMENTS
This project is a backbone for GBF. The team shall consist of visionary Bhatias who wants to see the success of all the projects under GBF. The coordinator of this team will organize / create a vision document and organize first meeting of probable coordinators. This team will approach Advisory board for their consent, guidance and blessings. This team will work out solutions for (a) Office space and (b) operational expenses This team will be responsible for registering the domain name, launching the website and email communications. This team will exercise Financial Control of GBF. This team has come out with the constitution and Rules of GBF and completed the process of Registration. The team will always open to ideas and suggestions from any member of Bhatia community. As per the need of hour, Think Tank shall come out with a new project plan, organize a team and necessary resources to implement the project and ensure success of each project. Think Tank shall be responsible and accountable for success of GBF. Think Tank shall formulate strategies for sustainability of GBF as a vibrant organization. GBF will be the umbrella organisation for all the Bhatia organisation for the listed domains. GBF shall not compete or enter into any conflict with any other Bhatia organisation that has undertaken similar exercise, partly or else. Think Tank is a guiding force for GBF.

HOME FOR THE AGED

The objective of this project is to provide a healthy, dignified and pleasant environment to the aged Bhatias who cannot be accommodated by their children due to any reason. BASIC REQUIREMENTS
The goal of this project is to establish and run a home for the aged. A TEAM and a Coordinator:- This will be picked from the pool of volunteers with commitment for selfless service. Coordinator shall call a meeting of selected volunteers and introduce the concept of home for aged. He/She will invite views/ideas from the team and after a thorough discussion, will prepare a Project Plan. The project team will find out a property belonging to a Bhatia/Trust. This property (Land and Building) can be at Nashik, Mahabaleshwar, Khandala, Lonawala, Vajreshwari, Nathdwara, Jamnagar; Mandvi-Kutch where Doctor, Dispensary, Hospital and Medical care is available. After selecting a building for the home for aged, project team will contact the owners/trust and put forward the concept of home for aged. This effort will continue till success is achieved. The capital expenditure needed to convert the building received as a Donation shall be prepared as CAPEX REPORT, which will include necessary furniture, Permissions, Registration and other related expenditure. To run this project, an OPERATIONAL EXPENSES REPORT will also be prepared. Monthly expenditure per inmate, Salaries of the staff, Water bill, Electricity bill, Housekeeping, Security, Communication bill, Medical bill, Mess bill etc will be covered in this report. For meeting both the types of expenses (CAPEX & OPEX) , sources of funds will be shown in the Project report. The project team will also find out existing Homes for the Aged that are run very well at an affordable cost. Till our own home for the aged is not organized, this option can be used as a stop gap. SINGLE WINDOW FOR EDUCATION, WIDOWS AND SICK

The objective of this project is to make funds and property available as a single window by the help from various trusts for the noble cause of the community as a whole. The targeted assets are probably lying idle and are likely to be acquired by the Government. GBF shall not acquire those assets but will ensure that the said assets are available for the noble cause. GBF can be a facilitator for the purpose and can act as a single window for students, widows and sick. BASIC REQUIREMENTS
This project needs a team of senior educated volunteers who have convincing power and are legally educated. The goal of this project is to be a service provider to the donors and beneficiaries as a Single window and in due course ensure that Poverty and Charity disappear from Bhatia dictionary. A TEAM and a Coordinator:- This can be picked from the pool listed in this document. Coordinator shall call a meeting of selected volunteers and introduce the concept of single window. He/She will invite views/ideas from the team and after a thorough discussion, will prepare a project Plan. The Project plan will include the modalities of coming together. Meeting with legal experts should help completing this task. The project team will find out a list of all Bhatia Trusts. This list will be the base to work upon. Along with the list, team will find out the shape, condition, Health, Value of the Assets and contact of the living trustees of the Trust. Entire team with an identification cards & a Letter of Appeal will approach each target. The coordinator will prepare a report (outcome). Based on the outcome, the team will meet legal experts for working out the modalities of Single window. This may take quite some time but the end results will be very encouraging for the community. Objective of this project is to ensure that properties belonging to Bhatias, anywhere in India are not abandoned/neglected and are maintained well. Further, these properties may be voluntarily received for GBF instead of unauthorized occupancy. GBF shall receive such properties as gift/donation and utilize them for the purpose of GBF objectives. The targeted assets may be lying idle and are likely to be acquired by the Government. BASIC REQUIREMENTS This project needs a team of senior educated volunteers who have convincing power and are legally educated about property matters. The goal of this project is to ensure that properties belonging to Bhatias are not abandoned/neglected and are maintained well. A TEAM and a Coordinator:- This can be picked from the pool listed in this document. Some senior and experienced volunteer may be coordinator of this project (MPOB). Coordinator shall call a meeting of selected volunteers and introduce the concept of this project. He/She will invite views/ideas from the team and after a thorough discussion, will prepare a project Plan. The project plan will include the modalities of managing the property. Meeting with legal experts should help completing this task. The project team will find out a list of all Bhatia properties that needs proper management and maintenance and may be obtained as a gift. Objective of this project is to encourage and create more and more youngsters in the community to become industrialists that create wealth and employment and earn reputation for the community. This project is commenced on January 2011. BASIC REQUIREMENTS This project needs a team of Bhatia Industrialists who are successful in their domain. They are the best people to guide budding bhatia youngsters to become industrialists. The goal of this project is to create more and more Bhatia entrepreneurs. A TEAM and a Coordinator:- This can be picked from the pool listed in this document. Someone from the large industry may be a coordinator of this project. The team will create/accumulate a knowledge base of Industries /Businesses/ Professions and collect white papers for each type of Industry. Objective of this project is to ensure that each student (Std-IX onwards) gets an opportunity to learn about available options to make his/her career. Further, this guidance shall be made available by a booklet and also available on the website. Every year, the project team will organize career guidance event and guide aspirants on one to one basis. GBF shall engage professional organisation for the purpose. BASIC REQUIREMENTS This project needs team of volunteers having background of Educational and Vocational domain. Many educated Bhatias have successfully organized such events. The goal of this project is to establish and run a career guidance cell. For the purpose, the team will create a database of available career options of all the segments, details of admission procedure and deadlines of main Colleges and Universities. Also, this team will have enough information about overseas education and availability of educational loans and scholarships. Objective of this project is to ensure that every adult Bhatia seeking a job is either provided a placement or suitable guidance to get a job. BASIC REQUIREMENTS This project needs team of volunteers having background of working with any welfare organization like an Employment Exchange, Recruitment Agency or Manpower Consultancy. The goal of this project is to establish and run an employment guidance cell. For the purpose, the team will approach any placement agency run by a Bhatia and seek his/her guidance. The team will prepare a professional document (Computerized) for registration of the candidates. The team will chalk out a plan for organizing this task and complete it within a stipulated time frame. The team will look at the Population database and identify the needy candidates and also communicate by inserting an advertisement in the newspaper or display on the website asking needy candidates for registration. The team will display the details of available jobs on the GBF website on a regular basis. A TEAM and a Coordinator:- This can be picked from the pool listed in this document. Someone with a good exposure of Industries and experience in manpower recruitment can be a coordinator of this project. This project was commenced on December 2011.

The goal of this project is to establish a team of educationalists who will achieve the objective in a stipulated time. For the purpose, the team will obtain National database of Bhatia community and pick up essential data to prepare a target list and an action plan. The team will chalk out a plan for obtaining funds to support education of needy students. GBF intends to provide interest free loan to every student for their higher education. A background of working with NGOs, and Bhatia Trusts will be quite useful. The goal of this project is to prepare every member of the community for meeting the challenges of 21st Century and ensure that Poverty is eliminated from the community. For the purpose, the team will obtain National database of Bhatia community and pick up essential data to prepare a target list and an action plan. The team will chalk out a plan for obtaining funds to support the one time funding of poor Bhatia families. This funding have to generate livelihood or enhancement of income and improvisation of standard of living. BASIC REQUIREMENTS This project needs team of Doctors, Medical Practitioners and humble volunteers who have determination to care for the sick. A background of working with NGOs, Medical Trusts & Societies and Hospitals will be quite useful. The goal of this project is to create a healthy community. The basic information can be obtained from Population database and communication of this project shall be prominently displayed on the Website as well as in leading Gujarati Newspapers. For the purpose, the team will obtain National database of Bhatia community and pick up essential data to prepare a target list and an action plan. Community Mediclaim Policy is one of the tool that GBF shall use for the purpose. The team will list out all organizations and medical practitioners of bhatia community that offer such care. They will also contact insurance companies for working out a single policy premium. The team will chalk out a plan for obtaining funds to support this project. Objective of this project is to ensure that every Bhatia has his/her own house anywhere in India as per their choice. BASIC REQUIREMENTS This project needs team of volunteers who have experience of Construction Industry as well as redevelopment project and are willing to build a modern housing complex at the cost of GBF. The goal of this project is to build ownership houses for every Bhatia family. For the purpose, the team will obtain National database of Bhatia community and pick up essential data to prepare a target list and an action plan. The team will chalk out a plan for obtaining funds to support the project. The team will prepare a project plan for this task and complete it within a stipulated time frame. About 40 residential buildings belonging to various trusts of Bhatia community are due for redevelopment in Mumbai alone. These buildings can be ideal cases for the consideration of this project. Objective of this project is to organize National Meet of entire Bhatia Community, represented by the organisations across the nation, once every five years, exchange ideas for the progress of entire community and implement them as project. BASIC REQUIREMENTS This project needs team of all the coordinators who are volunteering coordinators for one or more projects of GBF. This team will set the objectives, purpose and periodicity (Frequency) and agenda of National Meet of all Bhatias. Having done that, they'll propose a venue and tentative time frame for the event. The team will prepare budget for the first ever National event under GBF. The goal of this project is to ensure that every Bhatia organization is invited to be a part of Bhatia Fraternity. The basic information can be obtained from Population database. For the purpose, the team will obtain National Database of Bhatia community and pick up essential data to prepare a list of invitees and an action plan. The project plan will require that travel, stay, lodging, meetings and discussions are well organized for the meet. The quality of this event has to be that of a National standard. BASIC REQUIREMENTS This project needs team of female volunteers who are seasoned in social work and committed to build team and organize events throughout the year. The goal of this project is to establish Ladies wing that will organise events at a National level. The team will prepare Agenda of first meeting of Team Ladies wing. The team will also prepare list of events to be organized throughout the year. The events can be various competitions like Cooking (Bhatia dishes), Singing, Dancing, Painting, Weaving, Drawing, Story writing and story telling, Poetry, Bhatia dress, Folk songs, Kutchi language expertise etc . The GBF Ladies wing shall work in unison with other ladies organisations like Bharatiya Stree Mandal of Bhatia Community. Bhatia Youth Wing shall be the providers of volunteers for several other projects listed in this document. This project is commenced on January 2011. BASIC REQUIREMENTS This project needs team of youngsters who are keen to build a strong team and committed to organize events for the youth throughout the year. The goal of this project is to organise events for youth (Sports, Education, Culture) The team will also prepare list of events to be organised throughout the year. The events will be organised keeping 3 factors in view viz. Education, Culture and Sports (Shikshan, Sanskar and Ramat-Gamat). The events can be various competitions like Public speaking, Singing, Dancing, Painting, Sports, Drawing, Story writing and story telling, Poetry, Bhatia Dress, Folk songs, Drama, Kutchhi language expertise etc. In short, this project shall take up every possible activity that builds up Bhatia youth for the pride of community & Nation. The goal of this project is to create Sports persons of National and International level. The Project coordinator (PC) will prepare Agenda of first meeting of Team of Sports wing. The PC & his/her team will also prepare a plan for the next 5 years so as to produce certain number of sportsman/sportswoman representing India. BSW is expected to prepare all the youngsters who'll be very competitive and meritorious in sports like Cricket, Tennis, Chess, Table-tennis, Swimming, Badminton, Squash, Athletics, Shooting etc. The team will chalk out a plan for obtaining funds to support the Sports wing. BASIC REQUIREMENTS This project needs a Bhatia with a deep knowledge of culture and heritage cherished by the community. The goal of this project is to ensure that present and future Bhatia generations get full exposure of our valuable culture and heritage, so that they can keep the torch lighted and pass it on to the coming generations. The PC & his/her team will also prepare a plan for the next 5 years so as to create an authentic documentation and a Museum of Bhatia Culture, History, Heritage and life sketch of noble Bhatias. Objective of this project is to ensure that Temples, Fountains and Havelis built by Bhatias are in good shape and puja etc. are carried out on daily basis, closed Havelis are shifted to the places where Bhatias are relocated. In other words, no temple or Haveli build by Bhatias is shut down or is in a bad shape. BASIC REQUIREMENTS This project needs a devoted Bhatia with a commitment for the project. The goal of this project is to ensure that none of the temple and Haveli built by Bhatias is ignored or shut or dilapidated. The Project coordinator (PC) will prepare Agenda of first meeting of Team. Objective of this project is to provide a full range of Food items that can be traditionally branded as Bhatia speciality, to the younger generation, so that the delicious dishes are never forgotten. This project was organised on March 27, 2011 BASIC REQUIREMENTS This project needs experienced lady volunteers having excellent knowledge of Bhatia food items. The goal of this project is to ensure that every youngster gets an opportunity to enjoy traditional Bhatia Food items. The PC & his/her team will also find out those expert cooks who have an expertise to prepare Bhatia Food specialities. A Coordinator can be a person with an experience of organising Food Festivals. Bhatia Food Festival (18 item cusine) organised on March 23, 2011, 800 food lovers enjoyed it.

The goal of this project is to ensure that community news is reaching every home of Bhatia across the globe. The news letter editor shall publish the news letter in electronic and/or paper media. Postal addresses and email addresses will be available from above database. The news letter will be an uninterrupted and regular publication. BASIC REQUIREMENTS This project needs experienced writers well versed with the collection of accurate information, compilation, designing, printing and publishing. The goal of this project is to publish and spread good work done by the noble and selfless Bhatias. The PC & his/her team will take pains to collect and represent accurate information about the prominent Bhatias, both past and present. The PC will engage a professional writer for the compilation of such book. A TEAM and a Coordinator:- This can be a person with an experience of working on such projects.

GUIDELINES FOR VOLUNTEERS UIDELINES OR OLUNTEERS


1. STATIONARY : All the projects of Global Bhatia Foundation shall use uniform stationary with the logo of foundation. No project coordinator or any branch/unit of the foundation shall deviate from this norm. The type and colour of font, colours of the contents in the logo can not be changed. Foundation will provide soft copy of the stationary (Letterhead, Envelopes) for printing to be carried out of Mumbai.

2. PERSONS : Project coordinator shall provide details (Name, Address, Tel no, Email) of the entire team to the foundation, well before commencement of the project. All the team members shall be the life members of foundation. Project coordinator shall ensure that all the team members have clean background. Foundation may conduct a background check of the team members and if required, some members may be rejected from the team. 3. BEHAVIOR : Each member of the team shall be most polite to other team members as well as to the community at large. Image of foundation is prime consideration and members only have to build good image. Good image wins trust, confidence and respect. 4. PEOPLE MANAGEMENT : Project coordinator, before commencing the project, shall conduct a session on People Management for entire team. Any event/project where community gets together, demands good skills for people management and such skills are developed through experience. 5. FUNDING : Project coordinator shall ensure that adequate funds are raised and available for the project, well before the launching of the project. Project coordinator has to prepare budget for the project, get an approval from the Board of Trustees of foundation and then start the project. Apart from funds and team members, other resources are also to be clearly mentioned in the project plan. 6. SURPLUS & DEFICIT : Any surplus or deficit of funds shall be on foundation account. Project coordinator is responsible for controlling the expenditure and budget. Any additional expenditure or expense beyond budget requires approval of Board of Trustees. 7. SUBMISSION OF ACCOUNTS : Project coordinator on completion of the project shall submit the accounts within 48 hours to the Hon Secretaries for onward submission to the Board of Trustees. 8. CONCLUDING REPORT (LESSONS LEARNT) : Entire team shall sit together in the concluding meeting after the completion of the project. Each member shall contribute Lessons learnt from the execution of the project. Project coordinator shall compile these inputs in a presentable format and submit to the Hon Secretaries, for onward submission to the Board. 9. PROJECT REPORTING : Project coordinator shall report the progress and status of the project at the end of each day to the Hon Secretaries by an email. Secretaries shall prepare and provide the formats of the reports for each project.

The Project Coordinator is expected to have a prior experience of executing a project with a team of trained team members. Project coordinators are the backbones of success of the Foundation. Project Coordinators are totally responsible and accountable for the project handled by them. They'll have a freedom to build their team of volunteers for the execution of projects. Project Coordinators will prepare a detailed project report that includes various milestones with definite time frame and budget and other resources thereof. They shall obtain sanction from the Board of Trustees for implementation of the project. Project Coordinators shall submit weekly status report of their project to Board of Trustees through Secretaries. The project report shall be formatted in 3 parts viz. (1) Pre-event activities i.e. project planning, (2) On the day/s of event i.e. Project Execution and (3) Post-event activities i.e. On completion of the project. Broadly, items that can be included in Project Report are shown in the table. GBF follows ISO 9001 methodology for all the projects (Plan, Do, Check, Act).

MEMBERSHIP EMBERSHIP
Membership of Global Bhatia Foundation is open for the members of Bhatia community only. Various categories of membership are listed below. (A) PATRON : Any adult person from Bhatia caste who pays donation of Indian Rupees One Lac (Rs. 1,00,000/= or more shall be entitled to become a Patron member of the GBF. The patron members at any point of time are eligible to become trustees and shall possess same rights and responsibilities as that of Life members. The names of the patrons shall appear in the yearly publication of the Annual Report of GBF and also in the list of Donors of the GBF. Donation amount for an overseas Bhatia or an Overseas Bhatia Mandal or Mahajan shall be same as that mentioned for Indian Bhatia or Mahajan/Mandal. (B) DONOR MEMBER : Any adult person of the Bhatia caste who pays a donation to GBF of not less than Rs. 25,000/- (Rupees Twenty Five thousand Only) and below Rs.1,00,000/- (Rupees One lac only) per person shall be eligible to become a Donor member of GBF. The responsibilities and rights of Donor member shall be decided by the Managing Committee, but a person who is not a member of the Bhatia caste shall not be entitled to become the Donor member of GBF. The Donor member can become patron on payment of such additional amount that if added to the original donation amount sums up to Rs.1,00,000/- (Rupees One Lac) and satisfy other conditions of eligibility. Donor membership for any Bhatia Mandal or Mahajan is also available by donating similar amount and the highest ranking office-bearer shall be representing the Mandal or Mahajan. (C) CORPORATE MEMBER : Any Company wholly owned by Bhatias shall be entitled to become Patron Member by donating Rs.10 lacs or such sum as may from time to time be decided by the Managing Committee. The tenure of such corporate membership shall be five years. (D) FIVE YEAR MEMBER : Any adult person of the Bhatia caste who pays a donation to GBF of not less than Rs. 5,000/- (Rupees Five thousand Only) and below Rs.25,000/- (Rupees Twenty Five thousands) per person shall be eligible to become a Five year member of GBF. The responsibilities and rights of Five year member shall be decided by the Managing Committee, but a person who is not a member of the Bhatia caste shall not be entitled to become the Five year member of GBF. The Five year member can become a Donor Member or a patron on payment of such additional amount that if added to the original donation amount sums up to Rs.25,000/- or Rs.1,00,000/- (Rupees Twenty Five thousands or Rs.One Lac) respectively and satisfy other conditions of eligibility.

(E) ANNUAL MEMBER : Any adult person of the Bhatia caste who pays a donation to GBF of not less than Rs. 1,000/- (Rupees One thousand Only) and below Rs.5,000/- (Rupees Five thousands) per person shall be eligible to become an Annual member of GBF. The responsibilities and rights of an Annual member shall be decided by the Managing Committee, but a person who is not a member of the Bhatia caste shall not be entitled to become an Annual member of GBF. The Annual member can become a Five year Member or Donor Member or a patron on payment of such additional amount that if added to the original donation amount sums up to Rs.5000/- or Rs.25,000/- or Rs.1,00,000/- (Rupees Five thousand or Rupees Twenty Five thousands or Rupees One Lac) respectively and satisfy other conditions of eligibility. (F) YOUTH MEMBER : Any youth not less than 15 years and not more than 25 years of age, male or female person of the Bhatia caste who pays a donation to GBF of not less than Rs. 500/- (Rupees Five Hundred Only) shall be eligible to become a Youth member of GBF. The responsibilities and rights of a Youth member shall be decided by the Managing Committee, but a person who is not a member of the Bhatia caste shall not be entitled to become a Youth member of GBF. (G) HONORARY MEMBER : Managing Committee can invite and appoint any member of Bhatia Community who will be an Eminent Artist, Sportsperson of National or International level, Poets & Authors, Social workers, Patriots, Educationalists, Persons of Great Repute & Standing who all can add to the image and standing of GBF. These members may be offered an Honorary Membership of GBF. This type of membership will be valid for life and such offer can be made by the Managing Committee.
