3.1

MAINBOARD

The CPU board is based on the ZORAN 4230 circuit which performs in particular the function of microprocessor. The executable code is stored in the flash memory Z1101. This flash memory is divided in two zones: a zone reserved for the storage of the code and a zone reserved for the storage of the documents. The code is loaded from this flash memory into DDR2-SDRAM, and the microprocessor executes its instructions from the DDR2-SDRAM. Before printing, the documents to be printed are stored as bitmaps in DDR2-SDRAM. The DDR2-SDRAM is also used as the working memory for the ZORAN 4230.

SOFTWARE DOWNLOAD
by USB link by local network

Two methods can be used to update the software

There are 3 files to download: the boot software, the main software, the JFFS file. The files must be uploaded in the sequence order define in the BIT (Bulletin Information Technique) for the software. If the sequence order is not defined in the BIT, the files must be uploaded in this order: boot software, main software, and JFFS. Caution Upload JFFS file will erase all parameters. JFFS file must be uploaded only if a new version is diffused. It is necessary to save parameters before to download JFFS file.

5.3.1

DOWNLOAD VIA PC LINK

This procedure requires a basic PC running under Windows with the TELUSB2.exe executable and a USB cable. Put the machine in an inactive state; disconnect the phone plug so as not to receive any incoming calls. Make sure that all documents in the printer memory have been printed. Disconnect the LAN cable. Connect a PC using the USB cable. Switch On the machine to PC download mode (keys simultaneously 4, 8, 6). When the machine is On, TELUSB2 must detect the PC download mode. If not, retry this step. If OK, launch the executable and select the binary file to be downloaded. After a few seconds, a window opens stating that the download was successful. The machine should not reboot immediately. If this occurs, either the file is corrupted (wrong checksum) or the software is not compatible with the fax machine. Then the machine reboots with the software that was already installed. Check the file and restart the downloading. After download, the machine switches itself off, and then switches on again. The PLEASE WAIT message is displayed. When the main menu is displayed on the screen of the machine, check the software version and the miniboot version by typing MENU, Others Commands, Status. Reconnect the phone and LAN plugs.

REMOTE READOUT (ACCORDING TO MODEL)

Before and after each intervention on a machine equipped with the Remote Readout option, perform a manual transmission of the Remote Readout parameters to the Server center, if the state of the machine allows it.

Caution -

All MFP are equipped with the Remote Readout option (locked). The option is unlocked by the installer or maintenance technician during the initial installation or during the intervention following the subscription of the contract. When intervening on these machines, it is very important to proceed with care, because the remote readout parameters are verified by the processing center in order to detect any anomalies: , such as moving the machine, withdrawal, unintentional modification of the parameters, attempted fraud. At each automatic transmission, the Remote Readout parameters are transmitted in the night to the Server center. A report of the transmission of these parameters is printed.

6.1

ENABLING THE REMOTE READOUT

Select Hidden settings (MENU * 9559), Choise Remote reading, Enter the parameters of remote reading: - Service center : Enter the service center number. - Emission : - Without : Remote readout is not activated - Fax : Remote readout is activated. Remote reading will be sent by fax. - File : Remote readout is activate. Remote reading will be sent by file (transparent mode) - Define the parameters for remote readout.

To enable the remote readout:

The essential parameters that trigger a remote readout are the interval in days and the page thresholds. Once the parameters have been entered, they can be consulted by means of the KEY SEQUENCE MENU * 9559 and printed by means of the KEY SEQUENCE MENU * 1881 PRINT button, SETTINGS button .

6.2

TRIGGER CRITERIA
The day criterion is based on the interval in days parameter entered in the remote readout menu accessed by means of the KEY SEQUENCE MENU * 9559,"CONSUMABLES AUTOMATIC ORDER " BUTTON, "DAYS INTERVAL" BUTTON. This parameter represents the inter-val at the end of which a remote readout is transmitted: If the parameter has been set to 30, a remote readout will be transmitted every 30 days. This parameter cannot exceed 365 days. A transmission using the day criterion allows the server center to regularly monitor its installed base of machines and to detect any anomalies that may occur. The remote readout using the day criterion can be disabled by entering an interval of zero.

The remote readout can be triggered by two types of criteria: day or threshold.

IG 3000361032 - 01

- 40 -

The threshold criterion is based on the page thresholds entered in the remote readout menu accessed by means of the KEY SEQUENCE MENU * 9559,"CONSUMABLES AUTOMATIC ORDER " BUTTON, "XXX THRESHOLD" BUTTONS (XXX: means one kind of consumable (Toner, Print Unit, etc). When a consumables counter drops below the corresponding threshold, the remote readout is triggered. For instance, if the toner threshold is set to 4500 pages, a remote readout will be transmitted when the toner counter drops below 4500, or in other words, when the remaining toner allows no more than 4500 pages to be printed.

REMINDERS
Every MFP is equipped with a copy counter, implemented in EEPROM memory on the CPU board. This counter is used in particular by the Remote Readout function. It can be consulted by the user (see of the Installation Guide). This counter cannot be modified. It is stored indefenitely. Before any corrective intervention on the machine that risks modifying the installation parameters or the value of the counter (replacement of the CPU board or installation of new software), a manual Remote Readout transmission should be performed, if the state of the machine allows it. If this transmission is not possible for any reason, print out the Remote Readout parameters or display the copy counter and note these values on the intervention report.

CPU BOARD REPLACEMENT

PROCEDURE

Carry out the following procedure: Carry out a remote readout (if the function is enabled), see chapter 6, in the Installation guide. Back up the directory and the parameters via Web site, see chapter 7, in the Installation guide. Replace the CPU board and transfer the EEPROM memory of the old CPU board to the new board (topo mark P1100). Restore the directory and parameters via Web site. Carry out a remote readout (if the function is enabled). Format the HDD as described in the procedure, see chapter 1.10. Caution It is vital that the EEPROM memory "follows" the printer, as this memory contains: - the consumable counters, - the printer page counters, - the remote readout counters, - the network options (FSI). It is necessary to format the hard disk in case of replacement of the CPU board.

Caution 1.6.2

CABLING SPECIFICATION

Follow the cabling specification (see chapter 3) which describes the installation of the wires. Caution P5120 and P3270 are similar connectors; in case of disconnection of wires (for example if CPU board replacement) , be sure that cable with red clip is connected on P3270. In case of inversion, sensor of scanner ADF could be damaged.
