2. Introduction
This deliverable describes the experiment design and plan for one of the three driving experiments that use the EXPERIMEDIA facility. EXPERIMEDIA is a "FIRE" (Future Internet Research and Experimentation) project. For the project and in this context "experimentation" means that we do not know exactly beforehand what the researchers using the EXPERIMEDIA facility will want to do. The driving experiments are used to provide requirements during facility development and to verify and validate the facility capabilities to be used by further experiments that are either funded during the open calls or unfunded. Schladming is a tourist place that depends on visitors and their satisfaction. The main objective for Schladming therefore is to provide visitors and citizens with innovative future internet technology solutions that improve the visitor experience and improve the quality of life. Visitors as well as citizens and all other stakeholders should have all the information they need to have the best possible experience in Schladming available. For visitors this should improve the quality of experience and ideally the EXPERIMEDIA technologies deployed in the experiments will help to attract new visitors to the region, improve the visitor retention rate and contribute to a positive economic development of the region. The experiment should support a smooth and satisfactory "customer journey" that starts when the visitor researches information about an event or vacation in Schladming, continues throughout all further phases including the actual stay at Schladming until the visitor leaves the place and shares his experiences with friends. The experiment will target specific parts of the "customer journey" that are best suited. As part of the experiment, a mobile application (or app) will be created, which allows visitors to experience the region and its activities in a modern and innovative way. The app will also help visitors of events at Schladming like e.g. the ski world championships to find co-occurring events and related places and help them see where "the party is on". Beside that it will also provide additional info as user comments rating and evaluations of particular spots along with the state of the art POI (Point of Interests) information like location, address, service offers etc. Augmented reality is aimed to be used along also with the POI spots in order to visualise immediate possibilities of service, events and entertainment at or near the user's current location. The app offers the visitor the possibility to create his own POI and to extend the existing ones with additional meta-data such as comments, ratings, emotional feedback, event alignment etc. Attachment of additional information should be done using social networks. In this scenario, Social Networking Sites are exploited as an interface between real-world and virtual information, and for location-sensitive real-time evaluation of service and tourist venue offers. Other technologies are "actuated" through the social interconnection of users. For the purpose of the experiments, data will only be captured during the experiments themselves, inside the ethically and legally controlled environment of the experiments. User generated content as well will reside in the social networks and not on the testing platform.

3. Experiment Description
The main objective of the experiment is to enhance the experience of a tourist venue like Schladming for the visitors and improve its quality of service for citizens. This will be done by providing them information around the venue and events happening at certain points of time with adequate possibility to reflect their experience. In addition, it will be eased for visitors and citizens to evaluate services within the city using the new technologies like social networks and augmented reality, alternative evaluation interfaces and immediate interactions done by the users. An overview of the Schladming experiment is given in Figure 1.

Figure 1: Schladming experiment overview

Users will also be able to generate additional content to the points of interest and in this way allow the event organisers as well as other users and municipality to better evaluate their service offers and infrastructure in the venue area. Problems addressed here within this experimental setup would primarily be discovering the location and activity-based information with social filtering. This experiment issues include recommendations, comments, ratings, emotional sensing using innovative user interfaces, as well as discovering the ad hoc possibilities of interaction and information consumption and information sharing. Other issues addressed here would include indirectly collaborative decision making and decision support.

3.1.

Learning Objectives

Learning objectives in the context of the driving experiment are to capture the user acceptance about distant locations, services provided by them and events bound to the venue of Schladming along with performance measurements expressed in access counts, emotional feedback, ratings and comments as user generated quality measure. Analysis of all this information can provide at the bottom line the study of feasibility of certain services, locations and offers around the tourist community of Schladming or even recommend possible alternatives in this context. In this way it would be possible to reshape, adapt and affect the service and information landscape of the city

and its touristic infrastructure not only for tourists but also for citizens of Schladming. The idea behind this is using the global wisdom of the entire crowd.

3.2.

Experiment Procedure

The conductance of the experiment procedure can be described best by using the scenario description explained in deliverable D2.1.2: "Everybody is having breakfast together. Tom and Jenny want to go skiing but Alice and Bob want to go to a small local museum first. Alice and Bob are slightly better skiers, so they agree to meet at an advanced slope in one hour. On their way to warm up at an easier slope, Tom and Jenny pass a gallery that is a commercial shop and not listed in the tourist guide, but would probably interest Tom and Jenny. Jenny uses her EXPERIMEDIA app to mark the spot as interesting. Meanwhile, in the museum, Alice and Bob spot a brochure for another cultural landmark. They use their EXPERIMEDIA app to find out more information. It turns out its far away and people have commented that its not very interesting, so they decide to skip it. As Tom is skiing, he pauses and takes a nice picture of a funny-shaped hill with some huge trees. He uses his EXPERIMEDIA app to post the picture on his favourite social networking sites so with one click, the picture is now on several sites, and it is also automatically accompanied with context information, like where the picture was taken, what time it was, and even (possibly) what Tom was doing (picture taken while I was skiing). When Alice and Bob set off for the slope, their EXPERIMEDIA app suggests a detour to see the gallery Jenny had marked for them." The leading idea is providing a service via a mobile app as testbed which enables the user to interact within the venue Schladming and to share the experience of his stay with a broader community. It also allows users to give feedback in form of ratings, likes, emotional interface adhoc evaluations and comments to the service itself and generally to the points of interests of Schladming venue and his experiences around that. It also involves the user in the creation of new service points based on his personal interests. Motivation of users to contribute can be done by explaining them their significance being the part a part of the "smart venue" that senses its visitors and residents sentiment, opinions and general attitude towards service and locations around them in order to adopt it to their needs. Top contributors can be e.g. listed at "wall of fame" monitor placed at the central facilities of venue or event, or awarded each week with some technical or other prizes. Further each top rated contribution can be awarder using some benefits like coupons or special offers in restaurants or stores nearby the rating landmark. This kind of motivation is also applicable for online users. The experiment itself will take place at the wide area of Schladming around all sport, tourist, cultural and infrastructure facilities that are able to provide the necessary mobile and internet infrastructure. Generally the driving procedure of experiment can be split into the following phases: (1) Preparatory Phase, (2) Execution, and (3) Analysis Phase.

3.2.1.

Preparatory Phase

The preparatory phase for the Schladming experiment includes a set of pre-setups and preconditions that should be met in order to provide correct functionality of the execution phase. Activities included in this phase are also final tuning and testing of infrastructure and making the

adjustments of systems to the requirements of experiments along with the pre-test with the smaller groups of trained test users with focused functionality restrictions e.g. considering the single interaction interfaces. The output that will be collected using surveys from this phase will deliver first user feedback on design and usability and offer first analytics data. This phase includes also stronger marketing measures for incoming events like the Ski World Championship and incoming winter tourism season where the EXPERIMEDIA mobile app can be promoted as part of it. The primary targeted group of users will be younger up to middle aged visitors since this group has the strongest attachment to new technologies5. Austria as host country of the experimental venue also possess a solid penetration rate of smart phones that lies slightly above 20% of the total population6. Potential participants will be clearly informed in advance about the circumstances of how their data will be used for experiment and data will only be collected if the user gives his or her consent.

3.2.2.

Execution Phase

During the execution phase, Schladming visitors will be able to use the full capacity of the EXPERIMEDIA mobile app. In this phase the analytics data relevant to the experiment will be gathered. In order to meet D2.1.1 guidelines on experiment execution two different phases of tests will be distinguished: Value Opportunity Validation and Macro Modelling phase which will include the limited group experiment where the visitors of the venue will rate the facilities bound to the city and its infrastructure. This test will be driven at the peak time of tourist season in winter when a significant number of potential participants will be visiting the Schladming area and most of the tourist facilities will be in function. Visitors will be able to review, comment and rate different facilities using the EXPERIMEDIA mobile app. This will produce the raw data for analysis which will be used for Quality of Service (QoS), Quality of Community (QoC) and indirectly for Quality of Experience (QoE) improvement. Industrialisation Assessment phase will be tested at the time of a big event in the Schladming area like incoming Ski World Championship 2013. Special focus in this experiment will be set on the facilities bound to this special event and event itself. In this way the contribution related to QoE will be measured instantly while QoS and QoC can be derived from the recorded materials. For the realm of the experiment generally three different roles have been defined: 1) End-user End-users will be persons using the EXPERIMEDIA mobile app during the testing periods contributing with the generation of social and evaluation data to the post analytic tasks in the analysis phase. This role is crucial for all three segments of interest especially for the QoE and QoS. 2) Editor Editors will be focused more on the maintenance of data regarding infrastructure. They will be able to create, update, activate and deactivate the specific records depending on experiment

focus. In the case the experiment for example is aiming only at facilities of certain type or bound only to the certain events, they will activate or deactivate the points of interest accordingly. 3) Experimenter This group of users will be concentrated on analysis of UGC and evaluation data. Those will be the only users who will get insight into content generated by "the crowd". In the main focus of observation will be the question how the experience captured using the EXPERIMEDIA mobile app can be reflected on the enhancement of QoS, QoC and QoE parameters.

3.2.3.

Analysis Phase

In the analysis phase the Experimenter will get access to data that was previously generated and accumulated by the EXPERIMEDIA mobile app. Their view on data will not include any user information, solely references to the social media pages and rating values. Experimenters will be in charge of delivering useful analysis results and input to the Schladming authorities in order to help them to improve QoS, QoE and QoC for the residents and visitors of Schladming. This can be e.g. a statistic which of the locations in context was most commented, best rated or most liked, which evaluation method was mostly used, which attributes have been mostly used to express the experience, opinion or feeling about certain POIs. Specific metrics for QoS include technical data that is generated during the experiment both on the server side and on the client side. Response times of the server components and requested web services will be monitored which allows the analysis of scalability issues associated with large experiments. Typical network connectivity parameters are also monitored to analyse the suitability of mobile devices' internet connection for such experiments. Potential measures include bit rate, latency/delay, jitter, or percentage of dropped packets. Especially for augmented reality applications it is interesting to monitor metrics on the client which foremost includes positioning accuracy which cannot be influenced by us but mainly relies on the user device. Technical QoS data includes information on mobile phone positioning method (GPS, Wi-Fi, mobile network), identified location and calculated accuracy as well as orientation (compass). This will be combined with QoE measures that are based on feedback from the test users. Having both network connectivity and positioning technical QoS data can be combined with QoE based on user feedback to derive insights into the correlation of these factors. General feedback will also be considered for measuring overall QoE. To analyse QoC factors the WeGov dashboard can be used to investigate community characteristics where we will be able to identify relations between the experimental app usage and interactions with social online communities.

3.3.

Background

The base of the information infrastructure for this driving experiment will be a POI database already in existence which will be provided by the Schladming partners containing all conventional POIs for the area of Schladming. Further a high density of Wi-Fi hotspots, along with the 4G network in Schladming area is available for location detection and service delivery. The content generation with emotional and social interfaces will be handled easier with a good Wi-Fi hotspot density. The dissemination of the hotspots hot spots according the venue officials from Schladming 2030 along the main skiing and hiking routes as well inside the main cultural

and functional facilities makes the usage of the EXPERIMEDIA app even more attractive and easier. In this way a user is not necessarily limited to mobile internet access by his provider. A highly flexible and adaptive social network nexus framework working with unified data model for common social network platforms like Facebook and Twitter and allowing the basic interaction like generation and update of UGC content can be provided by our consortium partners. Usage of improved concepts of emotion sensing interfaces for evaluation of interest areas that can be provided as well by other partners as expertise input and possibly also as software product enhances the experience of several locations and delivers valuable analytics data. Upcoming events like the Ski World Championship 2013 in Schladming offer a great test environment with a reasonable number of participants that significantly contributes to social based evaluation of city's social gravitation points considering the better quality of life in the municipality for citizens and better understanding the needs of tourist population at big events.

3.4.

Assumptions and Preconditions

Following assumptions and preconditions have to be met in order to drive the embedded experiment: A Wi-Fi Infrastructure with high level hotspot density and equal dissemination of connection points is provided by the municipality of Schladming Mobile internet access support must be provided in the experimental area Users should have a phone or tablet that supports either a Wi-Fi connection or mobile broadband internet connection like 3G, 4G Users should have a mobile phone or tablet that supports GPS location tracking Users should have a phone or tablet that runs on Android OS (even though iOS support is also planned), however Android OS is primary point of matter of experiment Schladming partner should be able to provide basic POI data in a common format like CSV, XML, TSV, JSON or at least provide access to their database. Schladming partner should be willing to deploy some technical assets at their facilities e.g. Monitors for "Wall of Fame" Coupon and offer campaigns are desired to be supported by local commercial facilities POI data management infrastructure has to provide high percentage of availability and redundancy (clustering, fail tolerance) POI data management infrastructure has to be able to manage workloads of thousands of concurrent asynchronous requests Server running the Data Management Infrastructure is able to support workload balance or eventually replication possibilities Mobile client must be able to synchronise with POI data management asynchronously Mobile client provides interfaces for the user interaction, rating and content generation Social Network nexus Framework has to be able of handling thousands of asynchronous requests for retrieving and creating social user generated data started by mobile clients

3.5.

Parameters

Following parameters can and will be applied to the driving experiment:

Testing different user interfaces for rating (collaborative ratings, likes, emotional sensing, user generated evaluation through comments) Trying different data sources (databases, Data Management Infrastructures e.g. Infonova, disseminated media storages like different social media platforms) Trying of social emotional location sensing and collaborative rating Testing the flexibility of metadata storage management for the overall EXPERIMEDIA infrastructure

3.6.

Constraints

With an increased number of test users we will be able to generate more precise analysis and therefore a representative demographic sample of test users is desired. At the current stage we cannot realistically estimate the number of users of the experimental app. However, through targeted promotion activities we will try to ensure a sufficiently large and diversified test user base. As we are open to the use of different models of mobile devices in the experiment we also have to take into account the fact that different devices have different screen sizes, battery lifetime, user interaction behaviour and sensor accuracy.

4. Ethics and Privacy

D5.1.2 and D5.1.3 have delivered a detailed discussion of ethical guidelines considering the EXPERIMEDIA project and its specification. The Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) detailed in D2.1.1 is also applied to the experiment. Those principles will be integrated in an adequate way into the design of the experiment as follows: INFORMED CONSENT All users of the EXPERIMEDIA mobile app will be informed about the experiment purpose and all aspects around the usage of the app and how it contributes to the experiment to make sure that the user shows willingness to participate in the driving experiment. This will be done before the activation of the EXERIMEDIA mobile app on the smartphone of the user. CONFIDENTIALITY The user generated data that will be collected or logged during the experiment will be only available for the experimenter. Any other parties will be disclosed from the access to the data. The data itself will be changed in the way that it can protect the identities of participant but still provide the usable information for the experimenter. DECEPTION The information collected from participants will not be deceived, mislead or withhold over the purpose and general nature of the experiment concept. DATA COLLECTION Most concerns that rise from this embedded experiment reside in the area of saving the user generated content references into meta-data infrastructure used to co-ordinate the information flow and reproduce the analytics data for further analytic applications and mobile clients. Therefore in order to ensure that data generated by users will be preserved in secure ways protecting the actor's anonymity should be considered as important point of matter. Only the minimal amount of data will be stored (references) necessary to reproduce the feedback issues. There is no commercial intension behind the collection of this data. It should only enhance the rating aspects of certain informational entities inside the embedded experiment e.g. Points of Interest (POI). WITHDRAWAL FROM T HE INVESTIGATION Participants will be informed about their rights to withdraw from the experiment and to require the destruction of generated data collected with their contribution. CONSORTIUM PARTNER RESPONSIBILITY With an early release of this concept among the consortium partners an opportunity to ethically review the embedded experiment setup and design will be provided. As the process advances

5. Experiment Design
Schladming as a tourist place depends on visitors and their satisfaction. The driving experiment in this venue will therefore aim at providing technology that improves the visitor experience. An overview of the building blocks is given in Figure 2. As part of the experiment a mobile application will be created which allows visitors to experience the region and its activities in a modern and innovative way. The app will provide information to visitors on their mobile phone when they need it and also make use of augmented reality (AR) features as of the possibility to improve the quality of service using the social media reporting, rating and emotional feedback interfaces. The driving experiment comprises the mobile client software as well as the data provisioning backend including content lifecycle management and analytical usage tracking along with the interactive location and service based evaluation of delivered data.

Figure 2: Experiment building blocks

Editorial content from the tourism board on points of interest (POIs) is made available via an API to Infonova's R6 infrastructure which in this experiment serves as a unique central data management, maintenance and asset management platform. The R6 also collects user generated

content and serves as interface to the social network infrastructure to be provided by ICCS/NTUA , or the similar WeGov7 platform provided by IT Innovation. A POI provider can create/delete/update Services and Service Supplier information using the Infonova R6 WebAC (Web Administration Centre). The users of the experiment will access the information via a mobile client application and can interact with the various data sources through this interface. This includes read access to the available data as well as create and update access for adding user generated content like feedbacks, comments or ratings. In addition, the connected social network infrastructure allows for interaction with the supported social networks. AR infrastructure provided by JRS should enhance the user experience in a visual way by providing the augmented visualisation of POIs around the user along with a map based and list view. Log files store information about application use and data modification operations. These log files are made available to the experimenter for analysis of the experiment. Log file data includes information about data sources utilized from the mobile client, changes in data sources as well as additional information about the mobile client. The mobile client will also make available analytical information regarding the localization, service and information usage of the mobile device along with anonymous user interaction and behaviour logs. Log data is therefore captured on the client side and submitted to the central data processing infrastructure as a file that will be stored in a secured place in a file system of the data infrastructure server. In addition to access logs, ratings, social media references and evaluation values (e.g. from emotional sensing) from the central data processing infrastructure are also transferred to the log files that are available to the experimenters for post-experiment analysis. During the experiment as a side-experiment also the SkiDroid8 game from Interactive Institute will be promoted which is an interactive game for Android mobile devices that allows the interaction of users through their mobile devices with real-world items which are tagged with visual and/or NFC tags. An addition, also the MoreVideo approach from Interactive Institute will be promoted as a side-experiment where test users can stream a live video feed from their mobile devices and a combined live video stream featuring different users will be created. The individual steps of the experiment will be analysed and then explained in more detail in the update to the Methodology deliverable.

Data Management Infrastructure

5.2.1.1. Infonova Data Model for POI Infonova R6's excellence relies on its flexibility considering the data instances R6 can store in its data storage. In order to maintain and create instances of certain Entity=>Feature=>Item combinations a template has to be defined in the Infonova R6 storage. Once the template is defined several instances of it can be created inside the R6 storage. A schema can also be adapted and extended without corrupting the old instances since every old instance can be converted to

Since only basic data management concepts will be involved, commercialisation abilities of Infonova R6 will be not used for the scope of the driving experiment however they can be easily activated if a special use case would require this kind of functionality extension. For deployment purposes Infonova R6 Core requires a J2EE application Server like JBoss or Glassfish and an Oracle database. 5.2.1.3. Infonova WebAC WebAC or Web Administration Centre is a web application made for administration purposes and support of the Infonova R6 core infrastructure. It offers roles for user management and enables the manual operation over the data model with scoped view on it that can be present in several instances on the same platform. This feature is addressed as Virtualisation. This means that every user sees only the data which corresponds to his matter and can execute the actions on data that are only allowed to him and his role. In the business integration this feature is used for managing the sales channels, customers and product offers. In the primary context of the Schladming experiment only a single virtualisation will be used as a view for editors of POIs on the WebAC platform. The WebAC frontend consists of the customizable "Navigation pane", "Tabs" and "Application area" where the operations on data are fulfilled.

For deployment purposes Infonova R6 WebAC requires a J2EE application Server like JBOSS or Glassfish and an Oracle database. 5.2.1.4. Infonova REST API Infonova REST Interface is the Data Management Infrastructure nexus towards the EXPERIMEDIA mobile app and other infrastructure components. This nexus will be used for creation, update, (de)activation and import of content related to POI data that will be stored in POI structure managed by Infonova R6 database. Additionally to POI data, additional evaluation, analytics and user generated content attributes will be stored and maintained using the REST API inside the Enhanced POI structure.

5.2.2.

Application Building Block

5.2.2.1. Social Network Infrastructure WeGov from IT Innovation (a consortium partner) is a widget driven dashboard with analytic backend that enables the applications connected to it to manage most popular Social Networks like Twitter or Facebook using a single interface. In the experiment it will be used to retrieve and publish information from/to social networks. Additionally for bundling the access for different social platforms SocialAuth10 library will be adapted by ICCS (a consortium partner) and integrated along with WeGov. 5.2.2.2. AR Infrastructure The AR infrastructure is integrated in the mobile app to support the augmentation of useful information in the camera view of the mobile device. It will be possible to augment the user view

with textual and multimedia information. The AR infrastructure is also capable of supplying 3D models that can be integrated in the augmented view. From a technical point of view the AR infrastructure provides functions to overlay information objects in the camera view of the mobile device. Based on the current location information of the device along with information about the orientation (compass) and camera view angle an overlay position for additional geo-tagged content is computed. The POI information to be displayed needs to contain geographical information so that its position relative to the camera view can be computed. In addition, for emotional sensing the Babylon interface will be integrated.

5.2.3.

EXPERIMEDIA Mobile App

The mobile application for the driving experiment will be created according to the experiment description to provide test users with the necessary information and interaction capabilities. The mobile app will retrieve and also update enhanced POI data via the REST interface of Infonova R6. The AR infrastructure will be used to create an augmented reality view on the mobile device for displaying the enhanced information about POIs and events. Social data and interaction with social networks is provided through the Social Network Infrastructure. Test users will need to install the experiment app on their mobile devices. On the first use of the application the test user will be informed about the experiment and which data will be collected and will be asked for his consent to data collection (which can also be revoked again later). The app displays information about points of interest and events in the vicinity of the test user and overlays this information via augmented reality technology in the camera view of the mobile device. Additional information like ratings and comments from social networks are also displayed in the socially augmented view. Through the app the user can also give feedback which will be posted to social networks and can also use the emotional sensing feature for giving feedback. Usage of the app will be monitored and logged as described in previous sections.

5.2.4.

Technical Assets

5.2.4.1. Internet Infrastructure Schladming area contains a very good Wi-Fi infrastructure with well disseminated hotspots since it is a tourist venue hosting a large number of visitors every year, especially in winter and during big events like the incoming World Ski Championship 2013. Hotspots are present in almost all important public, cultural and gastronomy facilities and additionally along the ski slope. Coverage like this enables easier location of EXPERIMEDIA mobile app in addition to GPS localization. It also enables users without a GPS module on their smart phone or when GPS is deactivated to participate in the experiment. The aspect of localising the user in this context is crucial therefore it requires good infrastructure for localisation and easy and fast content delivery. 5.2.4.2. Mobile Providers Schladming venue offers in the urban area full strength coverage for all local mobile providers like A1, T-Mobile AT, 3 AT, and Orange AT. Coverage on the mountain is also available in all main spots.

5.2.4.3. Server Infrastructure Server landscape of Schladming experiment requires at least a single robust server instance for Data Management Infrastructure with at least one additional replication node since this is the most critical infrastructure instance. Two further single instances for two Application Building blocks along with at least each one up to date backup system would be the minimum requirements to ensure the high level of availability of experiment. System requirements have to be specified more precisely before the implementation start. Most requirements however will include state of the art technologies. It is thinkable that e.g. AR Infrastructure may require higher performance parameters then Social Network Infrastructure due to content that has to be delivered. Parameters like concurrent user number, time of the year, upcoming large scale events, or weather can and will challenge and scale the experiment setup. Therefore a flexible and well prepared deployment scenario is required to be defined. 5.2.4.4. Data Providers Main data provider in this context will be Schladming 2030 along with the municipality of Schladming. For the realm of the experiment information about POIs is essential for building up the experiment infrastructure. Additionally weather information or video from surrounding sensors or live web cams can enhance the EXPERIMEDIA user experience. Evaluation data as well as UGC for Logs and meta data enhancement of POI information will be provided by the end user involved into experiment via the EXPERIMEDIA mobile app. 5.2.4.5. Data Storages In the realm of Schladming driving experiment following storages will be used Schladming POI database Infonova R6 database Statistic data log storage

Schladming POI database will be used to gather the data about POIs relevant for the venue of Schladming. This data will be once imported to Infonova R6 in order to generate a start-up information infrastructure for experiment needs. The advantage for the Schladming venue is that this data can then be managed using the WebAC platform. There will also be a Statistics Data Log storage that resides in the file system treated separately from R6 storage with function to capture the live data from the end users. The data that will be logged contains anonymous log records that consists mainly from information usage statistics, component and service usage statistics and from tracking of behavioural patterns of EXPERIMEDIA mobile app users without attachment to any identity or profile that could be dereferenced somehow, Log files will be saved in files system and formatted in that way to be usable for further statistical analytics. Access to the log files will be managed via secure web or FTP access download including the authentication and only available to the experimenters. WebAC provides its own username and password authentication based upon Oracle security technologies, since R6 itself and all of its modules also rely on Oracle technology. REST Interface access is also managed by authentication based upon Apache Shiro Java security library and HTTPS transport within the SSL (Secure Socket Layer).

Content Lifecycle Content Authoring

Editors at the tourism board are responsible for curating the editorial content. The original data sources can be consolidated and this data management can also be done on Infonova's R6 platform. User generated content (UGC) can also be handled on the R6 platform where it will be possible to store UGC within the scope of EXPERIMEDIA. For UGC a community manager will handle issues of reported inappropriate content and liaise with the community. Federated community content outside the control of EXPERIMEDIA might also be referenced without quality assurance.

5.3.2.

Content Management

Content that is made available on the mobile client can be both editorial and user generated content. Editorial content is available in distributed data repositories that can be imported using the RESTful interface or manually added from the local provider using the WebAC interface. The content about POIs generated by users would also use the RESTful import interface in the backend via the mobile app. Access to this data would be either done using the RESTful interface for data retrieval or directly by logging in on the WebAC platform if the user is about to make some content management task for individual POIs. As long as the data resides on the Infonova Platform it can be managed using the WebAC. In this way a data provider can create, update or delete this information. Additional information is available through the social network adapters where the social networks supported by the adapters can be tapped to provide additional information. These social network adapters can serve both in a read and write fashion as they allow consuming data from social networks as well as publishing information to the social networks. For the analysis of the experiment analytical information about data utilization is logged. This includes logging of data creation/modification and read access on the central data store. In addition, user interaction information from the mobile client is also stored in the log files and as attributes to the POI of concern. In wider range it will be provided to users to create their own POIs in interaction with social media but without the possibility to delete or update then. Those points of interest will be revised and in the case of usefulness left activated; otherwise they will be deactivated after a certain point of time.

5.3.3.

Content Delivery

5.3.3.1. Transmission Issues Content Delivery will be provided by Data Management Infrastructure that resides mainly on Infonova modules for the need of the experiment. Original data will be used from the Schladming authorities who already have a database with thousands of main POIs in this area. The federated content is made available to the mobile client and will also be accessible from a web interface. Evaluation, Rating values and references on social content as well will be attached to POIs and as such stored in the Infonova Data Storage infrastructure. Only the content itself generated using the social network infrastructure module will be located in corresponding social networks due preventing the privacy issues.

5.3.3.2. Visualisation Issues Information will be presented as geo information, text information, visual interface with parameters, statistical graphs. In order to tackle some possible scenarios of interface design already before the methodology phase consortium partner Interactive Institute in collaboration with Schladming organized a design competition at the SIDeR'1211 Interaction Design Student Conference in Gothenburg, Sweden on 22-23 March. The conference gathered Master and PhD students in Interaction Design from all around Europe, and was attended by approx. 120 people this year. As part of the conference, a design competition was organised around the theme of Schladming, and how new technologies and services might support visitors to Schladming in various ways. Further Interactive also contributed by presenting the solutions from Babylon project and AR research. In the realm of AR presentation interactive SkiDroid game was introduced and discussed on the issues of possible design of EXPERIMEDIA app interface. Additionally JRS also presented iOS application based on AR technology from their prior research called ways2gether12. All these activities delivered at least very valuable starting suggestions and ideas regarding the interface design which will be specified more into detail in the upcoming methodologies deliverable.

5.4.

Risks

The EXPERIMEDIA project risk management also monitors this driving experiment. Countermeasures for any potentially arising risks will be taken. There are no immediate risks specific to the experiment. However, as we are encouraging test users to use their own device there is the chance of having incompatibilities with some devices. This will be considered during software development and also given the potentially large distribution base the impact of incompatibilities with some "exotic" devices is relatively low. Another potential risk with low probability is the issue of attracting too little test users. This will be addressed through actively promoting the experimental application through various means at Schladming.
