My Belief

by Cho Lay on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at 7:51pm Life on this earth is not meaningless; therefore I will have a meaningful life. Beyond death there is eternal life. I am only living a temporary life on this earth before I have eternal life. The universe is a wonder and cannot be a meaningless happening and did not come about by accident or so-called natural processes; the universe must have been designed and planned because of its marvelous and sophisticated lay out. Those are very deep mysteries which a human brain cannot comprehend. It can only be created by someone with unlimited power, knowledge and wisdom; there had to be an intelligent designer or Creator. I believe in the creation and that I am a created being. There are various beliefs and religions. I respect the teachings of the various religions because they taught us how to live in harmony with each other. To judge which religion is right or wrong depends on the individual person. I do not judge anyone. Two persons can look at the same thing and come to have different opinions. I understand that neither of them is wrong and that both are correct from their own point of views. I will not be able to understand or do everything by myself. Therefore to trust in the omnipotent God who created the heavens and the earth will be the best thing for my life. I have tried to get direct contact with the eternal God as I believe and trust in the eternal God. I came to understand that direct contact to the eternal God can only be possible through Jesus Christ. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. My faith is not dependent upon human knowledge nor by scientific means, but upon the unmistakable message of the Word of God. I believe that the Bible is Gods written revelation of His will to humanity. The message of the Bible is the message of Jesus Christ who said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. It is the story of salvation, the story of life, of peace, of eternity. His death on the cross and His resurrection from the death were Gods way of bringing salvation to the human race. I believe that Jesus Christ is also able to free us from the consciousness of guilt and the power of sin. I understand that all people need Gods grace in order to enter heaven. According to the Bible we cannot be reconciled to God on our own efforts, no matter how hard we try. The reason is that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Therefore God has prepared a solution because of His love for us. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16) Jesus Christ shed His blood and died for us as a propitiation for our sins. He has redeemed us with His blood. Therefore to have eternal life, we have to have faith in God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. According to the Word of God, Salvation is by the grace of God and not because of our works. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk on them. (Ephesians 2:8-10)

Not by works of righteousness which we have done but according to His mercy He saved us through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit. (Titus 3:5)

" Those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men.(Titus 3:8) The Will of God in redeeming us from our sins also wants us to do good works during our lifetime here on earth. Thus the teachings of Jesus Christ include both faith and deeds. Both faith and deeds are two sides of the same coin. Christianity is not a religion. It is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ who is Savior and LORD of all humanity. He is the Messiah who can set us free from our sins. There is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. (Acts 4:12) While living on this earth I have to search for the truth. What is the truth? For me Jesus Christ is the truth. Jesus said, I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. (John 14:6) Majority consider those who accept Jesus Christ as their savior belong to the Christian religion. But according to the Bible, only those who are Disciples of Christ are called Christians. As for me I dont consider those who accept Jesus Christ as the savior verbally alone and not genuinely from the heart as Christians. Many people especially the Buddhists look upon me as a pitiful person who has gone astray and also consider me as a person who has betrayed Buddha by changing his religion. From my point of view, I am not a traitor to Buddhist religion because I am building up a new relation with the Creator God through Jesus Christ who is the only way or bridge to the eternal God. Therefore the opinion of people is not a hindrance to my relationship with Jesus Christ. I just consider that their comments were because of the lack of understanding in the truth. I am not committed to any organization or denomination groups. I consider those who accept Jesus Christ as my brothers and sons of God. I accepted the principle of Synergy (i.e. one plus one equals more than two). I prefer the concept of equity and diversity instead of equality and uniformity. We must agree to disagree or have unity in diversity. I accept that we reap what we sow: We must have fellowship with each other sharing our sufferings, joys, happiness, etc... I must be faithful and look after my family. I will value everyone and everything in this world because everything has its own values. I see life as a cooperative, not a competitive arena. I eat to live and not to live to eat. I strive for consistency between what I say and what I do. I always consider the matter according to the following 3 things. (1) What I want to do? (2) What should I do? (3) What can I do?

I do not try to become a man of success but a man of value. Though I try my best I am still not a perfect person. Therefore I will trust the LORD instead of relying on my own strength and power. Whatever I am doing is not my own strength and resources but only by His guidance, help and support. My life is for the benefit of others. I will try my best to be the salt and light of this world. I may face difficulties, hardships and persecutions in this life. But for me to die is to gain.
