Du Bois American Negro Academy: Established for the lucky Negro people that were able to obtain higher education to discuss and advocate for the establishment and development of the American Negro people 1. Humans are divided into races a. No real meaning of race b. All races must overcome hardships of natural law c. No defined or absolute differences among races i. Differences and similarities overlap 1. Color 2. Hair 3. Cranial measurements 4. Language ii. Physical differences do not explain history differences d. Race is a social construct made by sociologists 2. Race developments of history a. History of the world is a collaborative story of groups/races b. Eight differentiated races i. Slavs of the eastern Europe 1. Czech, Magyar, Polish and Russian ii. Teutons of middle Europe 1. German, Scandinavan, Dutch iii. English of Great Britain and America 1. Scotch, Irish, conglomerate American iv. Romance nations of Southern and Western Europe 1. French, Italian, Sicilian, Spaniards v. Negroes of America and America 1. Mulattoes and Zamboes of America and the Egyptians, Bantus and Bushmen of Africa. vi. Semitic people of Western Asia and Northern Africa vii. Hindoos of Central Asia viii. Mongolians of Eastern Asia 1. Chinese, Tartar, Corean and Japanese c. Three overall races i. English and Teuton (white) ii. Mongolian (yellow) iii. Negroes (black) d. Differences: e. Nations are bound by common: i. Culture ii. Blood iii. Laws and religion iv. Traditions and impulses v. Ideals of life f. As time passed and growth occurred, physical barriers faded i. Held less importance ii. Families came together to form groups iii. Purity of blood was replaced by the importance of residency

g. Increased of spiritual and social differences i.e. class 3. Lessons for the Negro race to learn from past history a. Negroes has not contributed to the world. Yet. b. If Blacks bonded and worked together, they will achieve the same unification and recognition as other established races. c. Do not be absorbed or altered by other races d. Race prejudice is the friction of tow different people i. Cannot live in the same area without conflicts e. Find an identity in being American Negros i. American by: birth, citizenship, political ideals, language, language ii. Negro by: creation, African fatherland f. Do not be content with inequalities and lack of opportunities g. Must establish Negro institutions (colleges, newspapers, businesses, school etc.) h. Must be: i. Honest ii. Fearlessly criticizing own faults iii. Correcting flaws iv. Earnest v. Inspired by the Divine faith of ancestors vi. United 4. Academy Creed a. Negros have unique contributions for human civilization b. Must retain identity to establish the race of American Negros c. Pluralism - It is possible for white and colored people to live and develop along each other in peace d. To establish a social equilibrium and equalities for all statures of living e. To rid of Negro peoples ill immoral (crime & laziness) actions that fuel the negative image f. For white people to not discriminate against colored in the work field and education field g. Strive in an honorable method to establish the race of the American Negro people
