NET FORUMS' 7TH ANNUAL POKMON FINAL ROUND 3 EXAMINATION (JUNE 2012)
Time: 20 minutes; Total points: 31 pts. Section 1. You must answer questions 1-6 before moving on to questions 7-12. You will not be allowed to return to review these questions. Be sure to provide the BEST possible answers. This is the only way to gain full credit. If an answer cannot be deduced, simply write: cannot be deduced. 1) Consider the following Pokmon that belongs to Pokmon Trainer Ritz (the original trainer). Probopass, Male Level: minimum Nature: Bold Ability: Sturdy Knows: Zap Cannon, Lock-On, Stone Edge, Earth Power Even been traded?: Has never been traded Name all the possible locations where Ritz could have first used a Zinc vitamin on the above Pokmon. (2 pts) We know that this Pokmon has never been traded. Therefore, Ritz could have only obtained Probopass from his own Nosepass, which he evolved himself. Ritz could only achieve this in DPPt. ANSWER: He could have first used a Zinc vitamin on Probopass: ANYWHERE in Sinnoh (2 pts.) **The question asks about ALL possible locations, hence this answer is valid. If a user attempts to name a few locations in Sinnoh (but not just one) then award 0.5 pts. This answer also supports the fact that Nosepass could be hatched anywhere in Sinnoh. 2) Explain how Ritz obtained this specific Probopass. You do not have to explain the origin of its Nature or its Ability. (3 pts) The minimum level of this Probopass is Level 2 (Nosepass could know all the above moves at Level 1, have Sturdy as the ability and have a Bold nature). ANSWER: -Ritz hatched a Level 1 (male) Nosepass (1 pt.) -Level 1 Nosepass knew Lock-On and Zap Cannon (from parents) and also Earth Power and Stone Edge (which could have come from parents or tutors/TM) (1 pt.) -Level 1 Nosepass was leveled up at Mt. Coronet to evolve into Level 2 Probopass (1 pt.) *award partial credit as appropriate. Must at least correctly attempt to mention source of moves. 3) You are EV training your Terrakion by battling Garchomp. Considering Terrakions usability in battling, suggest why EV training by battling Garchomp is a smart thing to do. (2 pts) ANSWER: -Garchomp gives out +3 Atk. EVs (1 pt.) [idea that Garchomp is good for EV Atk. training] -Terrakion is used offensively as a physical attacker so you would to train it in this stat (1 pt.) [idea that you want to make use of Terrakions superior attacking powers] **award partial credit as appropriate.

4) What is the maximum number of EV points that a specific Terrakion can gain from defeating a single Flygon? Assume that this Terrakion has no EV points to begin with. (2 pts) Flygon gives out EV points in: +1 Atk, +2 Spd. So, the base is +3 total. A Power Item would be best used for Atk/Speed (Power Bracer/Anklet). So that is +4 in Spd and a total of +7. With Pokrus (x2) we get a max of +14 (+2 Atk, +12 Spd). ANSWER: 14 (no partial credit available) 5) Explain your answer to Question 4. (4 pts) ANSWER: -Flygon gives a base of +3 (1 Atk, 2 Spd) -Power Item (Bracer/Anklet) raises it to +7 -Pokrus doubles it to +14 -Other combinations produce less than +14 (i.e. with Macho Brace and Pokrus/just Pokrus/nothing else etc.) **award partial credit as appropriate (look for logic if answer in Q4 was wrong). Read entire answers to judge the value. 6) Your friend just traded his Volcarona to you. You decide that you want to EV train your new Volcarona, so you ask this friend for more information about Volcarona. He tells you that Volcarona has never battled before. State the number of EV points that Volcarona can still gain. (2 pts) Note that you are not asked for any sort of range or possible values. You are asked for the specific number of EV pts. that can still be gained. A Volcarona that has never battled before can gain EV pts. via an Exp. Share so you cannot really say exactly how many EV points it can still gain or how many it has already gained. ANSWER: Cannot be deduced (2 pts.) (if the user says ANY number FROM zero TO 510 then award +2; award NO partial credit here) Total for Section 1: 15 pts. Section 2. Final section. Be sure to provide the BEST possible answers. This is the only way to gain full credit. If an answer cannot be deduced, simply write: cannot be deduced. Trainer Christy is battling Trainer Aston in a double battle. They each have two Pokmon and they each have at least one fully evolved fifth generation Pokmon. Below are some observations from this battle, as typed by Professor Juniper. This battle takes place in Pokmon Black. Trainer Christy is battling Trainer Aston in a double battle. They each have two Pokmon, one of which is a fully evolved fifth generation Pokmon. Below are some observations from this battle, as typed by Professor Juniper. This battle takes place in Pokmon Black. Trainer Christy owns: Pokmon A and Munna Trainer Aston owns: Pokmon B and Noctowl Begin turn one!

-Pokmon A used Synchronoise! Notes: All other Pokmon received damage! Since all Pokmon received damage then Pokmon A HAS to be Psychic type (it hit Munna) ALONG with either Flying OR Normal type. So, either Psychic/Flying OR Psychic/Normal. This brings the list down to: Meloetta Aria form, Girafarig, Lugia, Natu, Xatu, Sigilyph, Woobat, Swoobat. But, out of these Pokmon the ones that can learn Synchronoise are: Natu, Xatu, Sigilyph, Woobat, Swoobat. But Natu and Xatu are not 5th. gen. This leaves: Sigilyph and Swoobat (Woobat isnt fully evolved). So, this means that Pokmon B has to be Flying, Psychic or Flying/Psychic type. -Noctowl used Rest! Notes: Noctowl went to sleep! -Pokmon B used Growl on Munna. Notes: Munna's attack was lowered by Growl! -Munna used Moonlight! Notes: Munna's HP was retored. Begin turn two! -Pokmon B used Snatch! Notes: Pokmon B waited for Pokmon A to make a move! -Pokmon A used Move X. Notes (1): Pokmon B snatched Pokmon A's move! Since Move Xs effect was to seal moves, it has to be Imprison. So, in the end it was Pokmon B (& not A) who used Imprisons effect (by Snatching). So, since B locked Imprison and Synchronoise this means it also knows these moves (A also knows these moves). So, B knows: Growl, Snatch, Imprison, Synchronoise. The only 5th gen. fully evolved Pokmon like this is Beheeyem (and yes, it is Psychic type). Notes (2): Pokmon A's sealed moves: Imprison and Synchronoise! Sigilyph cannot learn Imprison, so this leaves Swoobat. 7) What is Move X? (2 pts) ANSWER: Imprison (2 pts.) [no partial] 8) State the identity of Pokmon B. (2 pts) ANSWER: Beheeyem. [no partial, not even for preevolutions because it was initially stated that B has to be fully evolved regardless of how the battle played out] If Elygyem alone, NO credit. If Elgyem or Beheeyem then +1. 9) Explain your answer to Question 8 by using at least four reasons to support your explanation. Reasons should match with the observations above. (4 pts) ANSWER: look for four valid and logical points from the above purple text or just from the users reasons. **award partial credit as appropriate. Award credit even if answer to 8 was incorrect. The three main defining points are: - Beheeyem can be hit by a Psychic type user of Synchronise - It is a fully evolved 5th gen. Pokmon - It is the only 5th gen. fully evolved Pokmon that can learn Growl, Snatch, Imprison and Synchronoise

**award points for logical answer that support users answer in 8. **award points if users attempt to eliminate various Pokmon from a possible list of Pokmon 10) State the identity of Pokmon A. (2 pts) ANSWER: Swoobat. [no partial, not even for preevolutions because it was initially stated that B has to be fully evolved regardless of how the battle played out] If Woobat alone, NO credit. If Swoobat or Woobat then +1. 11) Explain your answer to Question 9 by using at least three reasons to support your explanation. Reasons should match with the observations above. (3 pts) ANSWER: look for three valid and logical points from the above purple text or just from the users reasons. **award partial credit as appropriate. Award credit even if answer to 8 was incorrect. The three main defining points are: - Swoobat is a fully evolved 5th gen. Pokmon - Psychic/Flying type - Only 5th gen. full evolved Pokmon capable of being Psychic/Flying along with learning Imprison and Synchronoise **award points for logical answer that support users answer in 8. **award points if users attempt to eliminate various Pokmon from a possible list of Pokmon 12) Which of the following items fulfill the following criteria: (i) its effects can be seen in a Pokmon battle? (3 pts) Tip: Use the letter labels if you want to be quicker. a. Big Nugget b. Cell Battery c. Carbos d. Max Repel e. Ultra Ball f. Old Amber g. Sweet Heart h. BalmMushroom i. Blue Flute j. Ground Gem ANSWER: b, c, e, g, i, j (award +0.5 for each correct answer; subtract 0.2 if at least two incorrect answers are provided with any correct answer(s)). Total for Section 2: 15 pts; Total for Round 3 Final exam: 31 pts.
