Narrator: Lumnay confronted the village elders.

She wanted to denounce the unwritten law for awiyao was only hers. She would not let any woman take him away from her. With determination and the courage she summoned, she went to the wedding dance. Lumnay: let this wedding dance be stopped Narrator:she shouted with all her might. The sounds of gangsas halted, even the dancing women, signifying lumnays victory to intrude. Narrator:All of her fellow tribe men looked at her. Confusion, disgust and astonishment can be traced on their faces. Even Awiyao could not believe lumnay stopping the wedding. One of the elders spoke. Elder1:How could you come here and stop this sacred wedding when you should be one the women dancing for this wedding? This is defiance on kabunyan. This is unforgivable on your part! Narrator:She heard murmurs and whispers coming from her fellow tribe men. She answered back. Lumnay:great elder, I came here to denounce the unwritten rule. I cannot let my husband marry another woman. Hes mine. He belongs to me. Elder2:You do not know what youre saying! You are ruining this wedding for you selfish reasons! A man deserves a wife who could give him a child! Lumnay:I do not deserve to be left alone just because I could not give my husband a child! I have been a good wife! I did everything just to have a child. I love my Awiyao more than anything in this world. Would that not be enough in place of a child I could not give? she looked at Awiyao with pleading eyes. He looked at her with nothing but anger. She turned to one of the elders. Lumnay:I beg you, please let the unwritten rule be broken. It is not fair! Having a child will not measure a mans masculinity! It is measured by how he loves and serves his wife and the tribe. It is not my fault that kabunyan did not bless me with a child. Maybe kabunyan has another plan for us couple. Please understand what I am going through. Please hear me out. All of the people in the wedding remained silent. Even madulimay could not look into her eyes. Lumnay:Think of your sisters and daughters. Would you let them suffer the way I do right now just because I could not bear my husbands child? Would you let them feel what I feel right now? Would you blame them for being barren? If I could only have a choice, never would I choose to be barren, to be considered worthless, and to be looked down by my fellow tribe men. If I could only have a choice, I would willingly and gladly choose to give my husband a child so I would not have to meet those eyes of each of you that mock my barrenness. Elder3:no one ever dared to denounce nor break the unwritten law but you. The unwritten law will never be broken for breaking it will be against kabunyans will. You are a shame on our tribe! You value your own selfish reasons than to please kabunyan! You should be thrown out of our tribe! one of the elders exclaimed.

Lumnay:please. I am begging you great elders. The elders just shook their heads as a sign of disapproval. She ran to Awiyao and hugged him tight. His arms remained on his side with his fists clenched. Lumnay:My dear Awiyao. I love you so much! Please do not marry Madulimay. Just stay with me. I begged you. Do not leave me. I cannot leave without you. I promise you, I will do everything for you to stay happy with me. I promise you will never regret choosing me than Madulimay. We can still be happy even if we were not blessed with a child. Please tell them you choose me. Please tell them that nothing matters as long as we are together. she said as she sobbed on his chest. Awiyao:you do not love me Lumnay. You do not love me enough to understand that I need child that will bear my name in our tribe. You do not love me Lumnay. You love yourself but not me awiyao said as he loosened lumnays arms around him. He held her on her wrists Awiyao . . Awiayo:Enough Lumnay. You have shamed me in front of everyone. You even brought shame to our tribe. I thought you understand me but you dont. I will marry madulimay. I already made my choice. I have chosen madulimay. Elder1:Send her away one of the elders said. Two men took a hold of her forcing her to leave the place. Aliguyon:just let her go! Ill be the one to send her away. Aliguyon said. He is the son of one of the elders. He remained unmarried for some reasons. The two men let her go. Aliguyon:lumnay you shouldnt have done that. Lumnay:I love my husband. I cant let him marry another woman Aliguyon:but awiyao already made a choice. He chose madulimay over you. You just have to let him go. Go on with your life.

Narrator:Lumnay went back to her parents. She tried to forget everything that happened in the wedding dance. It has been two harvests since she tried to stop awiyaos wedding. She was surprised to see an arrow on her fathers staircase. Someone wants to marry her. It was aliguyon. Her fellowmen mocked aliguyon for wanting to marry her but aliguyon just ignored them. He confessed his love for lumnay. He has loved her before awiyao threw his spear on the staircase of lumnays father. He accepted everything about lumnay. He loves her despite her barrenness. Though aliguyons father and his fellow men are against their marriage, still aliguyon married her. Lumnay fell in love with aliguyon. She got over awiyao. Lumnay and aliguyon were blessed with a child by kabunyan.
