Telephone : 9010049 Ext-436 Fax : 9015473 E-mail : www.bup.edu.bd Background of the Establishment of the University: In the Armed forces, there are various famous colleges, institutes and academies, some of which were affiliated with Dhaka University, some were with National University and some were with Bangladesh Sheikh Mujib Medical University. To bring all these colleges, institutes and academies under one umbrella for academic purpose, the necessity of having a separate university for the Armed Forces in Bangladesh had been long felt. With establishment of BUP on 05 June 2008, a long cherished expectation has been materialized. BUP deals not only with the education of Armed Forces but also the civilian student community at large through its affiliated bodies and its own faculty. It was formally inaugurated by the Chief of Army Staff on 16 Oct 2008. Act : 26 of 2008.
