Production is not the application of tools to materials but is the application of logic to work.
Production is the process by which goods and services and produced. Production consists of a series of operations that transforms materials from a given from to the desired form. Production is an organized process of manufacturing producing goods and services through the use of input resources of men, materials, money, machines, minutes and methods. Goods are physical objects that satisfy human wants. Services are those functions which have some utility, for example, providing legal advice to a client, repair of an automobile, etc.
DATA COLLECTION Collection of data is on utmost importance for a research investigation. If the date is not accurate and adequate the findings of the study are bound to be misleading, however, scientific a research might have been. The collection of data depends on the field for which the data is to be collected and the methods which are to be used for its collection. The investigator ahs to decide what methods to use in order to study his problem whether it is questionnaire interview schedule, a case study of observation method or a combination of any of these. The person collecting the data is equally important. He must be unbiased, sharp and courteous to respondents so that they can pleasantly part away with the information. We shall be developing a separate chapter to the collection of data for research investigation. Data collection are the two type 1. Primary Data collection 2. Secondary Data Collection Primary Data Collection Data which are primary at one time point may become secondary at another once primary data have been made use of it, loses its original character and becomes secondary. The nature, purpose and scope of a research study greatly affect the choice of method to be adopted for the collection of
research data. Availability of time and finance also affect the choice of method for collecting primary data. Secondary Data Collection It has already been explained that secondary data are those which have been analyzed earlier and used by other agencies in their own way. These are usually the data which have been collected by some one else and made available to others in the form of published statistics. The source of secondary Governments, Local bodies, Foreign Governments and international Organizations, Banking and Financial Institutions, professional Journals, Regular and adhoc reports and reports of commissioner of enquiry. These data are also available in a variety of unpublished documents.
