STC Work Crew 2012 Core Principles

You and Jesus

1Peter 2:9

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light John 15:4-6
4

Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. 5 I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.

You are not enough!

You for Jesus

Colossians 3:23

"Whatever you do, do your work heartily as for the LORD rather than for man." Because of this we are freed to work at everything for his glory and not just to get done. How you do anything is how you do everything. We can strive for excellence!

You and Each Other

Philippians 2:1-7

Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. You have to move towards community because it wont move towards you. Put in what you hope to get out.

You and the Campers

1 Thessalonians 2:9-10

Surely you remember, brothers and sisters, our toil and hardship; we worked night and day in order not to be a burden to anyone while we preached the gospel of God to you. 10 You are witnesses, and so is God, of how holy, righteous and blameless we were among you who believed. You are the non- verbal proclamation of the Gospel!

Your service is counter cultural. They are intrigued. It all points to and lifts up Jesus

WORK CREW HELPFUL HINTS

1.

Work together and maintain a positive and joyful attitude. Mistakes will be made and it is
important to keep things right among fellow workers. Keep communication lines open with each other and with your coordinators and bosses.

2.

Work Crew people are one of the strongest examples to campers of what Christ can do in a life. Spending time alone with Jesus is important to your witness at camp. Be enthusiastic. Sell the program! Talk up the entertainment but dont let the cat out of the bag. Dont steal program directors jokes or lines.

3.

4. Use discretion and discernment in male/female relationships. 5. Work Crew Bosses are your leaders. Property Staff will supervise you in your specific job.

6.

Living quarters are to be kept clean. We do have mice because of our rural setting; dont keep food and care packages lying around. Girls in girls quarters, guys in guys quarters. Know the schedule for your work responsibilities. Be on time. Your laundry will be done for you each week. The WC Laundry Boss will give you the schedule.

7. 8. 9.

10. You and the Summer Staff are a team. We are all in this together. 11. We ask that WC be sensitive to busy hours in the store and snack bar. If campers are in long lines

waiting to be served, please come back later.

12. Please abide by the Medicine Man hours - 1 hour after each camper meal. If you are unable to work

due to illness, be sure your coordinator or boss know so plans can be made to cover your bases.
13. Work Crew meetings are required. 14. Town Runner is for camp business only. Sorry, no personal items. 15. Swim suits- ONE PIECE ONLY PLEASE!!! Remember, we are examples. 16. SharpTop belongs to all of us! Help keep it clean! If you see litter, pick it up! 17. The camper bell at night is also the time you need to be in your living quarters. Many folks have jobs

that require getting up early. Please be quiet when you come in at night.
18. It is a poor witness for a camper to see someone wearing an item they lost! Please take any Lost and

Found items to the Lost and Found.

19. There are a few areas of camp that have appeal for people to do stunts with the machinery such as

riding in a dryer or through the Hobart dishwasher. People who do these things will be sent home at their own expense, no questions asked. (These are expensive pieces of machinery and there is the possibility of significant personal injury.)
