Madame Suggia
Guilhermina (1885–1950) was an internationally renowned Portuguese cellist, who lived in London from 1914. In 1920–23, COUNTRY LIFE’s founder Edward Hudson commissioned Augustus John to paint her playing. The portrait is now part of Tate’s collection
