Description

Show #456   Good morning, good afternoon and good evening wherever you are in the world, welcome to EV News Daily for Saturday 27th April 2019. It’s Martyn Lee here and I’ve been through every EV story I could find today to save you time.   Thank you to MYEV.com for helping make this show, they’ve built the first marketplace specifically for Electric Vehicles. It’s a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too.   ELON AND SEC AGREE ON NEW RULES "Tesla Inc.’s chief executive officer and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission said in a court filing Friday that they are settling a legal dispute over how Musk posts news about his electric-car company, avoiding a decision by a federal judge in New York on whether the billionaire should be held in contempt of court." reports Bloomberg today: "The SEC and Musk agreed to amend an earlier settlement to add specific topics he can’t tweet about or otherwise communicate in writing without advance approval from a Tesla lawyer. They include the company’s financial condition, potential mergers or acquisitions, production and sales numbers, new or proposed business lines, projections and forecasts that haven’t been previously published, and Musk’s purchase or sale of Tesla securities."   https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-04-26/musk-sec-settle-legal-fight-over-his-tweets-about-tesla-juykzbwq   ZERO MOTORCYCLES RAISES ADDITIONAL $25 MILLION "Zero Motorcycles announced the close of the $25 million funding round, which bring its aggregate equity capital raised to over $250 million since inception 13 years ago in 2006." repots Mark Kane for InsideEVs.com: "According to the press release, Zero is selling more electric motorcycles annually than all of its competitors combined."   From Zero: "With 13 years of experience, Zero Motorcycles has developed the most power- and energy-dense EV technology in powersports and has built Zero into the leading brand with a global supply chain and distribution network, and a broad portfolio of products, which are effortlessly powerful, safe, reliable, and delight our riders every time they twist the throttle."   https://insideevs.com/news/346216/zero-motorcycles-raised-25-million/?utm_source=RSS&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=RSS-all-   LARGEST FLEET OF TESLA POLICE PATROL VEHICLES START HITTING THE ROADS "A fleet of Tesla Model X vehicles has been converted to police patrol vehicles in Switzerland and it is finally going into operation after being held up over data security concerns." writes Fred for Electrek today: "It can raise some eyebrows when a police service buys a ~$100,000 vehicle as a cruiser, but the Basel police department says that it is actually buying Model Xs to save money. Last year, they announced that they are replacing 7 diesel cruisers with 7 Tesla Model X 100Ds. The police said that the vehicles end up each costing about 49,000 Francs more than their usual diesel cruiser, but they expect that the Tesla vehicles will be better long-term investments due to “significantly lower costs for operation and maintenance and a higher resale value.”"   https://electrek.co/2019/04/27/tesla-police-patrol-largest-fleet/   TESLA FULL SELF-DRIVING: FIRST "THE SMEAR" THEN THE "SLOW WALK" "By its nature, the federal regulatory process is ponderous and bureaucratic. That’s a reality that all companies must accept. But what if political influence is used to make Tesla’s FSD approval even more ponderous and bureaucratic than normal. That is, what if regulators were influenced to ‘slow-walk’ Tesla’s FSD through the regulatory process, turning a ponderous approval process into something that moves at a glacial pace. If Tesla is tied up for years in the red tape of approval, its competitors will have time to develop competing products."   https://insideevs.com/news/346884/tesla-full-self-driving-future/amp/   A 2013 NISSAN LEAF WITH 380 MILES OF RANGE?
