Description

Welcome to Season 2, Episode 3 of the Women’s Leadership Podcast with Gaia Project for Women’s Leadership Founder and CEO, Elizabeth Cronise McLaughlin. Join us weekly for all things related to women’s leadership, equity, advancement, inclusion and success in alignment with your values. What are you doing to leverage your privilege for change? As we have been watching and addressing what is happening at the border of our country right now with regards to children being separated from their families, we at the Gaia Project are taking a moment to consider what a difference it would make in the world if we had more women in power, particularly women who historically have been most marginalized. Our mission has always been to grow women into greater and greater positions of authority in society and at work, and after everything we’ve seen over the past weeks and months, this feels as urgent as it ever has. To that end, we’re doing something we’ve never done before. This summer we’re offering a Women’s Leadership Summer Masterclass Series that takes six of the most popular topics we teach when we go into corporate environments and makes them available to as many people as possible in an online format. You can register for one, several or the whole series. Some of the topics include: How to grow a new paradigm of leadership for diversity and inclusion How to overcome fear and the imposter complex and grow your confidence How to find and capitalize on mentors and sponsors so you can advance more rapidly These are all challenges that almost every woman we’ve ever worked with has encountered at one point or another, and we invite you to join us. We are more committed than ever to doing whatever we can to get more women into power, in both a time of crisis and over the long haul. This brings us to the topic of this episode of The Women’s Leadership Podcast, in which Elizabeth talks about leveraging your privilege for change. She shares how her father, a straight white man, has always been committed to social justice and modeled a conscious awareness of privilege to her and her sister from a very young age. She also discusses this critical turning point in the history of our country, when women of all backgrounds and diversities, including women of color, immigrants, LGBTQ women, and women of every diversity we can imagine, need to be represented on the national stage. If you are in a position of power or privilege in any part of your life right now, what can you do to get over fear? What can we all do to get over the idea that our voices don’t matter, get past the point of allowing ourselves to be silenced, get past the point of allowing our silence to silence others and move in the direction of using our privilege for change? Listen to the episode to find out more. If you like what you hear, please support us on Patreon where you can get access to bonus content. And don’t forget to check out the Women’s Leadership Summer Masterclass Series to gain the support and tools that you need to change your professional and personal life, and help make the world a better place for all, including the most marginalized among us.
