Description

Host Pete Prochilo talks with Suffolk (VA) Fire Chief Mike Barakey and Battalion Chief James Broglin, the incident commander, about a recent near miss on the fireground.

On March 11, 2019, Suffolk Fire & Rescue crews responded to a residential fire and found a large detached garage including two vehicles was fully involved. A Mayday was called on the fireground when a firefighter working between the garage and primary residence was trapped by a wall collapse.

Chief Mike Barakey is a longtime contributor to Fire Engineering, FDIC International instructor, and author for Fire Engineering Books & Video. He will be teaching "Critical Decision Making: Point-to-Point Leadership for Fire Service Leaders" at FDIC International 2019.
