Meaning

Searching for and inspiring prospective employees. It is the process of locating and encouraging potential applicants to apply for existing or anticipated job openings.

Transfers

It involves movement or shifting of an employee from one job to another in the same level of organisational hierarchy. Transfer does not involve any drastic change in the responsibilities, pay and status of the employee. Transfers or job rotations are also used for training employees in learning different jobs.

It means shifting an employee to a higher position. Promotion is an advancement of an employee to a better job-better in terms of greater responsibility, more prestige or status, greater skill and especially increased rate of pay or salary.

Retrenchment

It is the permanent termination of an employees services due to economic reasons such as surplus staff, poor demand for products, general economic slowdown etc. Termination of services on disciplinary grounds, illness, retirement, winding up of a business does not constitute retrenchment.
