The Connection Among Readings


This several poems we selected shared an author with different ethics, values and cultural backgrounds. A very important idea to give to the reader, also from the authors perspective; an expression to deliver. It is all about how they see humanity according to their point of view, sharing their thoughts about bonding connections with our neighbors, others about love, traditions, obligations, and even how parents educate their children.

How are the poems related?


All of the poems have a powerful content. Mostly being touching poems which would take us in a place in their hearts through imagination. Providing us with details, showing us with imagery a place where they had been. Somewhere within their ideas that they want us to perceive. All of the poems include an important message.

Examples of Authors meaning from the Text


In the Poem The Childs of Americas the title sparks curiosity in the readers imagination. The Author describes multicultural experiences and their struggles by mentioning religious, ethnic, and other cultural criteria. The reader may interpret that people from mixed heritages struggle to fit in.

I am new. History made me. My first language was spanglish. I was born at the crossroads and I am whole.

Examples of Authors meaning from the Text


In the poem the Mending Wall the author provides an imagery of two feuding neighbors that have come to an agreement in maintaining the wall for privacy issues. The author provides quotes such as Good Walls Make Good Neighbors in order to Allow the reader to Interpret that one neighbor might favor the wall much more than the other.

In the poetry/poems selected the authors/readers created meaning from the text through the use of:

How individual experiences shape interpretations. Because individuals come from


different backgrounds every reader may interpret stories differently.
Love Song this poem was about being madly in love. Others could say the man was obsessed with the woman. Child of the Americas you can understand the feelings and emotions that were felt in the poem. Morales makes the choice not to farover one race over another. She claims all of different cultures boldly and with pride. Mending Wall this story was about fences separating or bringing together neighbors. Someone can say the story is about fences keeping what you want out.

Conclusion
Literature is written in different forms, and can be interpreted in many ways. Literature tells a story that can be entertaining or informative whether fiction or nonfiction.
