OBJECTIVES
At the end of the 25 minute discussion and teaching demonstration , the students will be able To: 1.) Identify what is acupressure. 2.) Determine the characteristics and points to remember for acupressure. 3.) Familiarize on the points to remember while doing this procedure. 4.) Review the basic anatomy and physiology. 5.) Apply the necessary techniques in pressing the first two meridians, major body organs and pressure points.

Should be done on a flat, firm surface Position of the therapist standing or sitting client - sitting up/lying down Apply pressure during exhalation Clothing thin, loose, comfortable Therapist clean hands, short nails, relaxed, mastery of techniques Press at the correct Meridian Line and proper length of time Observe clients reaction Treat client for only 30-45 minutes No lotions, alcohol or powder during treatment (as slippery hands prevent hitting the correct pressure points)

Treat acupressure Prepare Hands Exercise Press one hand against the other with palms flat and all the fingers together Press one hands against the other with the thumbs separated from the other fingers Bend fingers back on each hand, using the other hand Repeat for 4 6 times

light infants = 1 second Light children / adults = 3 seconds Pleasant normal = 5 seconds Strong = 10 secs (for back, thighs, hard surfaces of the body)
