Vernacular architecture is a category of architecture based on localized needs and construction material and reflecting local Tradition constructed by local people. It is influenced by a great range of different aspects of human
Throughout India buildings are constructed by vernacular methods and without architects with whatever materials are in hand, to suit local conditions and extremes of climate. The range of vernacular building types is as varied as India's topography itself. We can understand the vernacular architecture of India by dividing it geographically into regions which bring together similar climatic and social characteristics.

My attempt is to produce a work of architecture using the vernacular process in preliminary design and to imply the vernacular techniques and methods in modern design.
Vernacular architecture has its own forms and techniques, evolved to meet the challenges of a unique set of conditions. so it is the best architecture for a particular region.
About vernacular architectureAs vernacular architecture is not an old or new way of designing but, the way it used to be in past and is interpreted and rebuilt today. It is the best architecture for a particular region. It is energy efficient, sustainable and climate responsive . Vernacular tradition are creative in process developed by the interpretation of past knowledge and experience, negotiated and adapted to meet the challenges of times.
As vernacular is sustainable but how to take that further, as there are some local resources which are depleting, plus the availability of today's material at cheaper rate and easy to maintain.
So emphasizing on the fact that apart from the preservation of vernacular architecture it is also important to carry forward the valuable lessons of the past into the future.
Vernacular traditions are inherent in nature and hold valuable lessons that may be applied to contemporary architectural practice. so I will try to carry our traditional vernacular further in modern building and reinterpret to form modern It encourages models of sustainable design rather buildings.. than importing international designs which may or may not be relevant to the Indian context.
My approach stems from the belief that local culture knows the best. So once the process of vernacular architecture is fully understood, one can incorporate it or adjusted to be used in modern design
To do a concise study into the nature and techniques of vernacular architecture and how that knowledge can be made useful in modern design.
To study the structures to understand the existence of a building and the form it has taken. To study the techniques, as the actual construction of vernacular buildings was the result of traditional techniques and availability of materials. To study the impact of geographical context on the structure The design approach engages the study of local culture, buildings and emphasis on techniques and their expertise.
