Adipose Tissue? What is it?

Muhamad Khanifudin Bayu Aji N. (4401410009) (4401410067)

Adipose Tissue
Fat (lipid) : Temporary storage of energy-rich material. Weighs less, and occupies less volume per calorie than carbohydrates or protein Adipose tissue : A form of connective tissue specialized

for storage of fat

Insulating function Buffering of mechanical insults

The differences

Multilocular Adipose Tissue (brown fat)

Tan to reddish brown Color due to rich vascularity, and abundant mitochondria rich in cytochromes Multiple lipid droplets Cells smaller in size with more prominent cytoplasm

Multilocular Adipose Tissue (brown fat)

Distribution Posterior triangle of the neck, substernal and interscapular regions, along vertebral column, and around the kidneys In wasting disease, brown fat reappears in the same regions

Types of Adipose Tissue

Adipose Tissue
Unilocular Adipose Tissue

Multilocular Adipose Tissue

Adipose Tissue

Unilocular Adipose Tissue

White to yellow in

color depending on carotenoid content Spherical or polyhedral shape of cells, 50 150 m in diameter.

The unilocular white or yellow adipose tissue (WAT)

is the most common type in adult humans and is composed mostly of mature adipocytes that contain one large droplet of lipids (triglycerides). The lipid droplet is not surrounded by a membrane, but interface with Lipid Cytoplasm Interface (LCI).

Adipose Tissue
Adipocytes are surrounded

by a loose network of fine reticular fibers Adipocytes are well supplied by blood and lymphatic capillaries. The nucleus flattened and pushed to the periphery when adipocytes are grouped together in adipose tissue.

An adipocytes mean diameter depends

on the volume of accumulated lipid in the adipocyte cells and ranges from 25 to 125 microns. The volume ratio of lipid to surrounding cytoplasm appears to be high as the cytoplasm is not visible in some areas.

Physiologically,

the adipose tissue is classified into primary microlobules (~1 mm) and secondary microlobules (~1 cm), which are enclosed within a sheet of connective tissue called fibrous septa composed of collagen and elastic fibers. Each primary microlobule is composed of grouped adipocytes with a capillary network. Each secondary microlobule is composed of a group of primary microlobules with larger networks of arterioles and venules located within connective fibrous septa that are visible to the naked eye

Development
Lipoblas is developed

from

mesenchim cell that doesnt differentiation. The Lipoblas is collect the lipid and produce mature lipid cell.

Adipose Tissue

Distribution
In a human newborn, multilocular adipose tissue constitutes 25% of the body weight and is distributed as shown. The black areas indicate Multilocular adipose tissue; shaded reas are a mixture of multilocular and unilocular adipose tissue.
