ABSTRACT
In this presentation we propose the implementation of fuzzy logic for a train to eliminate the drivers response time. It consists of a fuzzy controller which aids in the analysis of the physical conditions governing the whole system. The system consists of two stations where the distance between those two station is calculated and fuzzy logic is devised accordingly.

This presentation will enlighten us about the new technology which helps in the betterment of braking system concept.

OBJECTIVES
In order to successfully implement the application of the project we have to ensure the safety and smoothness of the train. Based on its speed and distance from the destination station the train starts applying brakes when the distance left to cover is 500m.

As far as the smoothness is concerned we have to ensure that the speed change in train due to remaining distance is gradual and not abrupt.

DESIGN
The first step is to select the number of stations where the train stops. The fuzzy logic controller is fed with the instantaneous values of speed and distance. The controller constantly compares the distance between the previous and the next station to distance travelled by the train towards the approaching station. When the train is about 500m from the station the braking system in train gets activated.

SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS
The software required for this project is called MATLAB simulation toolbox. It provides MATLAB functions, graphical tools, and a Simulink block for analyzing, designing, and simulating systems based on fuzzy logic.

The toolbox lets you model complex system behaviors using simple logic rules and then implement these rules in a fuzzy inference system.
The Fuzzy Logic Toolbox provides GUIs to let you perform classical fuzzy system development and pattern recognition. The toolbox provides a fuzzy controller block that you can use in Simulink to model and simulate a fuzzy logic control system.

ADVANTAGES
This software eliminates the need of a human opertor. The train comes to a halt smoothly as braking system is gradual. The train will stop at the exact spot everytime as there is no human operator involved.
