Each child has two sheets. One blank and the another
one
showing arrays.

How to play the game.

They do not look at each other’s arrays.

First child give location. For example “I am looking at

the array in the top right hand corner”.
They describe the array – “It has three dots in each row
and
there are 6 rows altogether”.

Second child records the equation. For example 6 x 3 or

3 x 6, and they have to state how they image the array.
Either 6 groups of 3 or 3 made 6 times. They earn 1 point
if they are correct. They are given 30 secs to write as
many
equations as they can to represent the array.

1 point is scored for each correct equation and points are

ROUND UP: a game for 2 players.

You will need 3 dice
a coin
red counters for 1 player, blue for the
other

To Play Toss 3 dice. Write down all the 3-digit

numbers you can make. You may not use
a digit twice.

Example If you toss 2, 3 and 6 you can

make 236, 263, 326, 362, 632,
623.

• Toss a coin. If it is heads, round the 3-digit

numbers to the nearest 10. If it is tails
round the 3-digit numbers to the nearest
100.
If you toss a tail the numbers made in the
example would be rounded to 200, 300, 300,
400, 600, 600.

• Place a counter on each square which has a

number you made.
For the example above, counters would be
placed on 200, 300, 400, and 600.

• The winner is the person with the most

counters on the board after 6 turns each.

 Divide It
A game for two players and one dice (1-6). They will need the game
board as shown.

The dice are thrown one at a time. The first die is for ‘tens’ and the
second for ‘ones’.

If the first player throws a 1 and a 5 for 15 then they place a counter
on any board number that divides evenly into 15 with leaving a
remainder. Eg. 3 or 5. Only one counter can be placed at each turn.

The winner is the first player to make a straight line of four counters
in any direction.

Variations
Each player has their own board. The winner is the first to make a
row or column of five counters.
