MEANING AND DEFINATION


Management development is more future oriented and more concerned with education than in employee training or assisting a person to become a better performer, by education we mean that management development activities attempt to instill sound reasoning processes to enhance ones ability to understand and interpret knowledge rather than imparting a body of serial facts. Coaching: when a manager takes active role in guiding another

manager we refer to this activity as coaching. The effective gives guidance through direction, advice and criticism and suggestion in an attempt to aid the growth of the employee Job rotation: job rotation represents an excellent method for broadening the manager or potential manager and for turning specialist into generalists, in addition to increasing the managers experience and allowing the manager to absorb new information; it can reduce boredom and stimulate the development of the new ideas. It can also provide opportunities for a more comprehensive and reliable evaluation of the manager by his or her supervisors. METHODS OF DEVELOPMENT IN PERSPECTIVE TO PUBLIC SECTOR BANKS


Public sector banks (PSBs) including Punjab National

Bank, IDBI, State Bank of India and Bank of India are altering their talent strategies to focus on performance and employee engagement. The banks are also lining up incentives such as paid holidays abroad, leadership and training programmes at top b-schools.

business schools like IIMs witnessing an increase in executive management programmes taken up by banks to understand leadership, strategy, customer orientation and employee engagement. Another bank that plans to provide global exposure to its

employees is Punjab National Bank that has tied up with a business School in Singapore to train their middle and senior management on leadership skills. Last year, the bank started a grievance portal for employees called "Samadhaan" through which an employee can mail problems related to promotions, or managerial hiccups to the chairman directly.

CONCLUSION
Hence, it can be said that Training and development is

about knowing where you stand at present, no matter how good or bad the current situation looks, and where you will be after some point of time. And all the techniques of Training and Development are different means towards achieving those ends for the organization. The better trained the employees of any industry will be, the better would be its productivity.
