This will be a demonstration of how to bring this information to the students Exit slips are students responses to teacher posed inquiry. They
check for understanding help make connections promote critical thinking

Three types of exit slips will be demonstrated

Explanation
Exit Slip = 3-5 minutes at end of class = ticket out of class Exit Slip Purpose = shows me what you are thinking about what we have learned. Exit Slip Types = 3-2-1, sticky notes, lap boards.

3-2-1 Procedure

Everyone gets sheet paper Asks 3 of one question, 2 of another and 1 of another. Write name on paper and answer all 6 questions Paper is ticket to exit (hand to Ms. Robie as leaving)

Everyone takes a post it note Put name on post it Use post it to answer question on overhead Place post it on the door jam as you exit

Learning about The Theme of Geography: Location In class learning: Using Atlas, reading from text, discussion with pairs and whole class, latitude/longitude practice, then exit slip

Example questions on overhead:

How could we use longitude to describe time? What is the difference between latitude and longitude? Draw a diagram that would explain your understanding of latitude and longitude.

Lap board Procedure


Students pass out white boards, markers and erasers
Questions presented on overhead Students answer and cover Ms. Robie says, Markers down and boards up! Students show answers until Ms. Robie says, Clear Repeat

Example for Lap Board Exit or Admit Activity: Show globe with a line of latitude highlighted: Is this a line of latitude or longitude? What degree is this line? Are we located north or south of this line?

Before and During Reading Strategies would be clear to students Location Lesson would be the day before Use Power Point presentation on LCD projector to explain/model strategies to students Model and then try strategies with students

Differentiation: format of questions posed choice of exit slip on days scaffolding with non linguistic organizers when needed ELL: use graphics with words choice of exit slip on days
