Promoting and developing a positive safety culture in a organisation, and integrating it with other management functions

Performance Criteria - select one from:

Performance Criteria:

Making a 30-minute presentation at internal OSH training courses aiming to introduce OSH policies, structures, requirements, guidelines, programmes, etc. Making presentation at external functions promoting the image of the organisation

Proposed activities
Internal: Making presentation at internal training course 1. Identify the areas that the participants need to know about OSH 2. Develop and designing ppt materials lasting 30 minutes 3. Work out a yearly training schedule 4. Kick off each of the training courses with my presentation on OSH External: Making Presentation at OSH Awards 5. Acquire the details and requirements for entering the Award 6. Design and develop the title and contents for the entry paper 7. Collect and collate relevant information from various parties to prepare the draft paper 8. Produce and submit the final entry paper and ppt file 9. Give Presentation

Undertaking work-based project to develop or implement positive health and safety policies in an organisation

Performance Criteria - select one from:


2.1 Analysing the impact of health and safety requirements on inputs, processes and outputs

2.2. Using goals and performance targets to design or develop a positive health and safety policy
(Minimum activities: 4 ; Minimum evidence: 6)

2.3 Identifying or using management techniques to implement a positive health and safety policy
(Minimum activities: 6 ; Minimum evidence: 8)

2.4 Engaging individuals and groups in developing and implementing a positive health and safety policy
(Minimum activities: 5 ; Minimum evidence: 7)

Rolled out in early 2011, a group-wide Occupational Health Framework requires every Group member including Hong Kong to establish a progressive Occupational health Policy to ensure the physical and psychological well-being of employees at work

Proposed activities:
1. Provide feedback to Group during the preparation stage of a group-wide Occupation Health Framework 2. Conduct gap analysis and prepare action plans to meet the gaps as identified 3. Implementation of action plans 4. Launch of OSH Policy in Hong Kong 5. Follow up the outstanding gaps

Developing or implementing effective communication systems for health and safety information

3.1 Identifying, selecting and evaluating available and current sources of health and safety information for dissemination internally and externally

Outline of, an background to, proposed work and intended outcomes:


With 20,000 employees in Hong Kong, it has always been a challenge to promote OSH to each and every employee. To ensure a wider involvement and higher participation of our employees, a voluntary structure has been established consisting of a group of OSH Coordinators and OSH Ambassadors, who assist the OSH team to promote OSH in their department/branch.

Proposed activities:
1. Review of OSH Coordinator/Ambassador Structure 2. Review OSHnet and OSH Helpdesk 3. Update the list of OSH Coordinators 4. Develop regular meetings to enhance their OSH knowledge 5. Collect their feedback for further improvement 6. Participate in Office Safety Meeting with building management contractors to monitor safety issues regarding the physical work environment
