11 years of basic education - 6 years for primary & 5 years for secondary. major exams at the end of year 6, form 3 and form 5. Centralized exams promotes unity through the national language. same core subjects for all schools in primary. cultural diversity is preserved through National Type Schools. Use of integrated approach. Comprises of content and skills, with emphasis on the development of basic skills, the acquisition of knowledge and thinking skills. Centralized exam with greater focus through formative assessment. Secondary curriculum is set according to abilities and interests of students. Content, skills, competencies, values and attitudes are given equal emphasis.
