MEANING
In case of written communication, the messages are transmitted in BLACK & WHITE form. They become permanent record. It is the best method when the communicator and the recipient go beyond oral communication media. The executives in all organizations can maintain effective interorganization, inter- departmental and intradepartmental connection through written messages. CHARACTERISTICS
Written communication has primarily been used as a medium to pass information and ideas upwards and downwards permanently. It is also communicating with people inside and outside the organization. Clarity in writing
Simple words: simple, common everyday words which everyone can understand. Short and simple sentences: no jargons , no technical terms and long sentences. Proper punctuation: it helps to provide pauses and stops and to break up words. Definite and concrete words Logical sequences of ideas: ideas must be logical order, coherence.
