Biography

Martin Buber
was an Austrian-born Jewish philosopher best known for his philosophy of dialogue, a form of existentialism centered on the distinction between the IThou relationship and the IIt relationship.

The Social is the life of the group of people bound together by common experiences and reactions.

The Interhuman is the life between persons, the interpersonal, the life of dialogue, The I-THOU.

I-Thou is distinguish from I-It


I-It relationship is the I-Thou, a person becomes human being dehumanize, aware of the other not as a depersonalized others. mere object.

One way of distinguishing dialogue from monologue is to describe the obstacles to dialogue which would be the characteristics of monologue.

Characteristics of Being Monologue


The first obstacle to dialogue is "SEEMING, in contrast to BEING.

"SEEMING distinguishes from the Genuine Seeming.

Buber: Man is seeking confirmation of his being.
