First Day

Who am I?

1. Get a 1/4 sheet of paper. 2. Answer this question:

If

you would ask God one question about yourself, what would it be?

We all know that Jesus died for us. We were supposed to pay the price of our sins with our life. We deserved to die because we were slaves of sin; but Jesus died in our place (Mark 10:45). Why did he need to do it for us? Who are we in the eyes of Jesus?

How

did the thief look at himself?

How

How

do you think would Jesus look at you? Who do you think you are for Jesus?

Like

the thief, we are all guilty of a crime against God. However, in the eyes of Jesus we are all worth saving. Jesus restored our life and dignity for us. He knew and loved us all when He offered His life

We

are His brothers, we are all His friends, and we are all His beloved.

No

one has greater love than this, to lay down one's life for one's friends (John 15:130). Jesus gave His own life for you and for me because He looked at us as His friends.

And I consecrate myself for them, so that they also may be consecrated in truth. I pray not only for them, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, so that they may all be one, as you, Father, are in me and I in you, that they also may be in us, that the world may believe that you sent me. And I have given them the glory you gave me, so that they may be one, as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may be brought to perfection as one, that the world may know that you sent me, and that you loved them even as you loved me. Father, they are your gift to me. I wish that where I am they also may be with me, that they may see my glory that you gave me, because you loved me before the foundation of the world.

He

prayed that we may all be one and that we may see how much God loves us.

We

are very special in the eyes of Jesus. Today we are all living because of the life that Jesus gave us. We live the life of Jesus.

How

do we make use of this life that Jesus gave us?

Jesus looked at us as His brothers and His friends, do we also treat others in the same way as Jesus would do?

 If

Jesus suddenly appears here inside the classroom and gives you the opportunity to ask three questions, what would your questions be?

Use

Ask

these questions to your parents, guardians, or teachers:

1. What is the biggest sacrifice that you have done for me? 2. What suffering or pain do you have to undergo to make that sacrifice?
3. Why did you do that for me?

a 5 minute sharing of your answers What do you feel about the sacrifices that your parents did for you?

 The

people who love us very much are also the people who often make sacrifices for us. They bear many hardships and sufferings because they want us to be happy. Jesus also made a sacrifice for us. However, this sacrifice is different from sacrifices that others make.

 Write

one question that you would like to ask about the pictures: your are Pontius Pilate or one of the Roman soldiers what question would you ask Jesus?

If

 He

did not only do it for one or two persons but for everyone (Matthew 26:28; Hebrew 9:28)
as the Son of God is the only one capable of embracing all the punishment for our sins.

Jesus

 The

death of Jesus became our salvation because of the unconditional love that He gave us (CCC 616).
cross which was a sign of humiliation and pain became a symbol of grace and salvation.

The

 "Whoever

wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me (Matthew 16:24).
Jesus wants us to carry our own cross not as a burden but as a sign of our love for others.

 Who

 What

made Jesus Christs sacrifice unique? How did Jesus save us?

Turn away your face from my sins; blot out all my guilt. A clean heart create for me, God; renew in me a steadfast spirit. Do not drive me from your presence, nor take from me your holy spirit. Restore my joy in your salvation; sustain in me a willing spirit. I will teach the wicked your ways, that sinners may return to you. Rescue me from death, God, my saving God, that my tongue may praise your healing power. Lord, open my lips; my mouth will proclaim your praise.
