What is BLUETOOTH?
Bluetooth is standard for wireless communications b/w devices in a PAN using RF for a short range.

Why Bluetooth?
Its wireless.
Its simple. Its inexpensive.

 Low power. Robustness. Provision for both voice & data.

Bluetooth Was Originally a CableReplacement Technology

Development History

Project started in 1995 by Swedish telecommunications manufacturer LM Ericsson. In 1998 major telecom companies formed Bluetooth SIG to develop its applications. 2000+ members in SIG.

Development centers
Global headquarters in Bellevue, Washington, USA.
Major promoters companies include Ericsson, Intel, Microsoft, IBM, Motorola, Nokia and Toshiba.

Working of Bluetooth
Auto conversation between Bluetooth enabled devices. Formation of personal area network (PAN) or piconet. Spread-spectrum frequency hopping.

Many applications and devices work independently in same area without interference. Frequency Hopping Software for correcting small errors.
