How many of you were born into a Muslim family?

How much of what you practice do you think is influenced by culture? Can you honestly, hand on heart, say you have fallen in love.......with Islam? Many of us find this difficult because we feel we were born into this without choice and so may not value it. Some of us feel we have yet to discover what it really is. Others unfortunately have not been shown the real Islam and so have a distorted view.

The order of the Qur'an has a purpose and the order of the revelation of the verses in the Quran also has a purpose. The revelation of the Qur'an often responded to specific problems or incidents at that particular time. During the first 13 years of Islam, the main task of the Prophet (saws) was to call people to Islam based on the Qur'anic revelations that focused on the Oneness of Allah and righteous conduct.

When Muslims migrated to Madinah and an Islamic community started to be wellestablished and new challenges emerged, the main focus of the revelation was to guide the life of Muslims through detailing the rulings pertaining to different acts of worship and setting punishments for crimes and so on. This shows us that the revelation in each of the two stages has a purpose. When the revelation stage was completed, the whole Qur'an was there and the whole message was put in the order that was intended for it to stay till the Day of Judgment.

Q: What has the order of the revelations got to do with falling in love with Islam.
A: Its the order you should follow to establish Iman. How do you fall in love with something without getting to know it beforehand. Trying to establish prayers or quit drinking, music etc before you undoubtedly believe in the articles of faith, before youre convinced there exists only One God, before your heart is filled with love for all the Prophets (pbut), before you have tried to rectify your character is like trying to run before you can even crawl.

You will find practicing your faith much harder if you havent established your foundation first. You cant start putting in windows to a house without laying the foundations for the bricks first!!
