EVALUATION

2) How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Stereotyped Representation
Many teenagers in our society that gave an interest in rock are usually associated with these things: -Boots -Leather Jacket -Studs -Behavioural problems -Partying -Engaging in sexual intercourse -Drug usage -Gothic -Bikers -Tattoo art

My Representation
My representation of the music genre in my magazine matches the stereotypical representation of teenagers who enjoy the music genre, rock. I represented them in such way because I wanted my magazine to be fun, interesting and intriguing. As I fall into the age bracket my magazine is aiming at and I have a love for rock music, I used my personal opinion on how my magazine should represent teenagers in this society. Here my representation of A: [Sword]: Aha! Weve the youth links in with the learnt new ways to spend our moneyfor me, girls, stereotyped drugs and new cars every representation. The month. My car right now is fictional character Sword an AUDI A5, it has beautiful talks about how he uses sleek black rims and a nice his wages on drugs, even glossy white coating, and I though he doesnt love it more than any girl reference what kind of Ive ever been with! drugs he is using we automatically assume it is Here my representation slips the type of drugs people away from the norm. The type of use to get high, rather motor-vehicle used by rock than medical drugs. This is musicians or rock fans are usually because of stereotyping associated with motor bikes, and the context it is in. however, here I associate this character with cars.

On the front cover I imply about how troublesome the teenage band on my front cover are and how they cant avoid it, this encourages people to believe in the stereotype about teenagers who enjoy rock music.

Socio Economic
The economics of the magazine industry are traditionally rooted in the idea that a Vogue reader is worth more than a Glamour reader who is worth more than a Closer reader. The web flattens out these distinctions, which may explain why cost per thousand in that medium is so much under pressure -Hepworth Magazine companys group the public into social groups, so it is easier to target the ones they want to read their magazines and suit the magazine to the specific part of the publics needs. The traditional model: A- High ranking professionals B-Middle ranking professionals C1-White collar office workers C2-Skilled manual workers D-Semi and unskilled manual workers E-The unemployed or those on benefits As my magazine represents females between the ages of fourteen and seventeen, I would say that my target audience fall into the D and E category, meaning the type of people I represent are jobless, or are in a minimum paid job which requires a miniscule amount of effort.
