Man Overboard
The primary means of rescue is normally a
helicopter, with the surface ship, or rescue boat secondary

However, the goal is to use the fastest and


most effective rescue platform for the given situation, no matter what platform type it is

Surface Rescue Boat

Boat crew consist of:


- Boat Officer - Coxswain - Engineer/ Sternhook - Rescue Swimmer - Duty Signalman/ Bowhook

Recovery Procedures
Boat will approach man overboard from down
wind of the man

SAR swimmer will deploy off of the starboard


side of the boat

SAR swimmer does a visual check of the man


for injuries, if the litter is needed, he will signal the boat

SAR swimmer will transport the man


overboard back to the boat
