THE IMAGE IN BACKGROUND IS THE GOLD MEDAL GIVEN IN WINTER OLYMPIC GAMES IN VANCOUVER ,CONTAINING GOLD OBTAINED FROM EWASTE 1
START UP
Aim: to target the growing e waste industry in India . Every month 5-10 million cell phones, 10 million computers, 80 million television sets and 10 million DVD players are sold. All of these products have a certain lifespan. This gives an idea of the quantum of e-waste and the rate at which its growing.

The amount of energy required to extract one gram of copper from electronic waste is 77% less than the amount of energy required to extract one gram of copper from a virgin mine. Even a tube light gives around Rs 20 to Rs 25 recyclable worth Only 15-20% of e-waste is recycled. The rest go directly into landfills and incinerators. If we only look at the PC sector, it is gold worth in the hundreds of millions that we are wasting here.
Electronic waste accounts for 70 percent of the overall toxic waste currently found in landfills Early product obsolescence, resulting from continuous innovation, has been resulting in electronic waste turning into the fastest growing waste stream The gold medals at the Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver contain 1.52 percent gold recovered from e-waste.
SOLUTION

GROWTH POTENTIAL
As it is already known that e waste production is going to increase by around 500 percent the growth potential is immense From January 2012, a new rule is going to be implemented which is similar to the extended producer responsibility in Europe. Now, this new rule will direct more and more of e-waste by the companies and established organisations to the organised sector.

CONCLUSION
Thousands of men, women, and children are employed in highly polluting, primitive recycling technologies, extracting the metals, toners, and plastics from computers and other electronic waste.. This shows that there is no dearth of manpower and labour is cheap. All in all, e waste recycling can turn out to be a very profitable business which is also eco-friendly and a good step towards healthy and green India.
