Jammu & Kashmir

Introduction

 Kashmir lovingly known as paradise on earth.

 With the snow clad mountaintops, exotic orchards,

alpine forests and many more, the divine and


delightful land of Jammu & Kashmir is a boon to the
worldwide nature lovers.
Srinagar Srinagar is aptly named the
"City of Lakes".
With a mixed Hindu, Mughal
and Sikh past, the city is an
amalgamation of various
cultural influences.
Srinagar is one of the major
tourist spots of Kashmir
owing to its pleasant
weather and many tourist
attractions, which include
the iconic Dal Lake, the
Mughal Gardens and the
Hazratbal Shrine.
Jammu

The city of Jammu has come to be known as the


‘City Of Temples’.
Innumerable temples and shrines, with glittering
‘shikhars’ soaring into the sky, dot the city’s skyline,
creating the ambience of a holy and peaceful city.
Ladakh
Ladakh is renowned for its
remote mountain beauty and
culture.
The highest plateau of the
Indian state of Kashmir with
much of it being over
3,000 m (9,800 ft).
Dal Lake
The famous lake in Srinagar. It is
also connected to other lakes
itself.
 Well known for its approximately
500 Victorian era wooden house
boats.
 Covers about 18 sq.kms. in
Srinagar .
 The lake has some interesting
flora & fauna. The flora includes
lotus flower, water lilies and
waterchestnuts Notable birds are
kingfishers and heron.
Vaishno Devi
One of the holiest Hindu
temple dedicated to Mata
Shakti.
Situated near Katra in
udhampur district.
. Million of pilgrims visit the
temple every year and is the
second most visited religious
shrine in India, after Tirumala
Venkateswara Temple.
Baba Amaranth
 The holy shrine of Amaranth is dedicated to lord
Shiva.
 The Rig Veda describes lords existence in the
hymns.
 It was confirmed from the findings of the Mohenjo-
Daro and Harappa civilization that the Shiva linga
On the opposite bank
of the Tawi river, is
Forts situated the majestic
Bahu Fort, the oldest
edifice extant in the
region.
Looking at this fort one
can imagine the wars
fought, invasions
prevented, and yes,
even the grandeur the
royal family must have
enjoyed at the time.

Himalayan ranges.

check out in the
Kashmir region are

The great Mughal historian, Abul Fazi, has


chronicled for posterity the benefits of the sweet
water spring of Kokernag.
This beneficent gift of nature is still regarded as
having extraordinary healing powers and the sick
are brought here for treatment by its waters, and
solitude.
Kashmir cuisine
 Kashmir, the land of fruits and
nuts is also famous for its well
known for flavoursome Kashmiri
Cuisines, more for the non-
vegetarian dishes.
 Kashmir serves the choicest
selection of vegetarian and non
vegetarian food in multiple
flavours to suit every pocket.
Accommodation
Because of the relatively tolerable
climate on the higher planes of
Jammu and Kashmir, and also
because of its scenic beauty and
bodies of water, Jammu is a tourist
attraction.
It is that place of India which is
known for its extravagant
hospitality and very good
accommodation facility.
Climate is the one basic factor,
which makes the state of J&K hard
to resist for tourists.
CLIMATE The climate of J&K is just the
opposite from the rest of India.
Altogether the climate of Kashmir is
either very chilling or pleasant
through out the year.
