Power: The ability to influence or act over

someone rather it be spiritually, emotionally, or physically.

Reflection:
Allie DeMasi ENGL 1102 Brown March 2, 2013 Reflection Letter

The one word with lots of different meanings: LOVE. Its so powerful and so fulfilling, and is said to conquer all. Its eternal and will last a lifetime. You can give and receive love for free and cannot force it upon anyone. Love is the one type of power that cannot be pushed on you like government, or persuasion. That is one of the reasons I chose it. Throughout my Power Point, you will see the many photos that I have chosen are very different. There are many types of love that I have pointed out throughout my presentation. I included how love can be within a family, how you can mourn love and miss a loved one, as well as how love can hurt. I included a photo of a United States Soldier hugging his son. In that case they have missed each other for a very long time and have been unable to see each other while e was out of the country. In another photo there is a female couple that were the first ones to have a gay marriage in Manhattan New York, legally. That photo shows the struggle and the wait to be together. Another one that one of my classmates liked was the marriage photo because even she said how great marriage is. Marriage is a beautiful thing because you are committing to spending the rest of your life with someone that you love. But my favorite out of all of them was the photo of the elderly couple because that shows everlasting love. Theyve grown old together and have probably been through so much together. Over all love is such a great powerful thing. I dont think that anyone can live without being loved or loving someone else. Its something so powerful that it takes over anyone.

Piece This photo was taken at the North Pool 9/11 Memorial in New York City. This man is on his knee touching the name of his son that he lost. I found this photo on Buzzfeed.com and was published as one of the 45 most powerful photos of 2011. Agent Justin Lane was the photographer of this picture but then published it on Buzzfeed.com.

Receiver I think the primary audience of this photo is an U.S. citizen. I know that as a citizen, I perceive this image to be very powerful, especially because my own Mom was in NYC while the Twin Towers were hit.
Agenda I dont this there is an bias in this photo. I think it justifies itself by showing how this poor man is still grieving over his sons death.

Demands I think this photo urges how devastating 9/11 was to our country, as well as how hard it is for all the people that lost their loved ones.
Inquiries I dont think that this photo is looking to manipulate me or persuade me at all. I think its doing nothing but showing me the power of love. Although after looking at this photo, I would like to know how old his son was. Gains After looking at this photo, I gained how hard it is to lose a loved one. It also showed me that you never know what could happen to the ones you love. Motivators I believe that the 10 year anniversary of 9/11 is was prompted the photographer and publisher to post this as 2011 most powerful photos.

Paradigm:
Piece This photo is a picture of a young boy tightly hugging his father who is a U.S. Soldier who was away for a long time and they are reuniting. I actually found this on Google, searching for photos of troops and their kids. It led me to a website that actually gave psychiatric help to parents for their kids with parents is the Army. The main point of this photo is to show how close family can be and how much you can miss your loved one, especially those serving our country.

Agent Im not quite sure about the photo, but the website that I found it on was a website with Psychiatrists, and I am sure they can be contacted.
Receiver In this case the primary audience is any family that has a loved one in the U.S. Army, but I think that anyone can appreciate this picture. As being in the audience, I perceive this picture to be a beautiful thing. The Father and Son look overly happy to be reunited. Agenda I dont see anything bias. I believe this photo justifies itself by showing so much happiness and love all in one picture. Demands I dont think photo urges anything other than to appreciate these people. Inquiries This photo did not try to sway me with manipulation. The only thing that I would like to know is exactly how long this Soldier was away for. Gains After looking at this photo I gained a ton of respect for our troops and their families who are at home missing then=m and worrying about them every single day. It also enhanced me to appreciate what I have and to be thankful for our troops. It also showed me that you never know when the last time you will see someone is. Motivators The original thing that motivated this photo to be posted was the website that it was on made to help kids and families cope with their loved ones being away.

Piece This is a photo of an interracial, gay adoptive, family holding hands in the shape of a heart. I found it on a blog about gay relationships and family. The main point of this photo is to tell there is no limit to love. Agent The person that started this blog was telling about his own kind of family. Its from his blog, and I think you would be able to contact him. Receiver The primary audience is anyone like me who is willing to read his blog and read more about his life and his type of family. My beliefs on this blog and this photo prove my thoughts on love already: its limitless and so powerful. Its up to you what you make of it. Agenda I dont think there is any bias in this photo, other than if you are prejudice or against homosexuality. Demands This piece doesnt really urge anything, it simply expresses this mans love for his own created family. Inquiries I would like to know more about how he got there with his family and more about his past. His blog wasnt very detailed and didnt have much order to it. Gains I didnt really gain much from this photo because I believed that all of this was possible. Although I did enjoy reading someone express there love and how powerful it was as well.

Motivators Im not quite sure what motivated the blogger but I was motivated to find this by looking for a picture that was different.
