MAIZE
• Most important cereal grain in the world
• India is the fifth largest producer of maize in
the world contributing 3% of the global
production
• Provides nutrition to both humans (33.3%)
and animals (66.6 %)
• Grown over an area of 6.4 million hectares
with total production of about 11.5 million
tones
• Average maize yield in India is 1785 kg per
hectare.
• Maize is grown in all the seasons i.e., kharif,
rabi and summer. Of these three seasons,
