INTRODUCTION
Financial statements are prepared from the trial balance; However, the trial balance may not contain up-to-date and complete financial statements data; Trial balance are balances from the ledger books; whereby only expenses paid and revenues received were recorded.

Adjusting entries are needed at the end of accounting period; As to ensure that revenues are recorded in the period in which they are earned and expenses are recognized in the period in which they are incurred. Reasons:
to get correct net profit figure for the period as to comply the matching concept

PREPAID EXPENSES
Payments of expenses that will benefit more than 12 months period. Prepaid expenses / extra payment of expenses will be treated as current asset. Example:

Expenses incurred in the accounting period but payment has not been made. Accrued expenses/expenses still owing will be treated as current liabilities. Example:
