Host Utility Console (HUTCNS)

To invoke the Console Interface from a MVS or VM terminal, enter HUTCNS.

From HUTCNS, you can start one of the following DBC utilities:
Session Status Configuration Display Locks Display Recovery Manager (QRYSESSN) (QRYCONFIG) (SHOWLOCKS) (RCVMANAGER) enter SES enter CON enter LOC enter RCV

The above utilities run in a virtual AMP partition in the Teradata database. The Console Interface allows them to communicate with a host interactive terminal.

Teradata Database Window

Database Window (DBW) The Database Window is the console software for Teradata RDBMS Version 2. Database Window Icons

The Database Window contains a Supvr icon that opens the Supervisor window. Once a Teradata utility is running, the DBW displays a new icon which opens a window for the Teradata utility.

The Teradata MultiTool utility (Windows 2000 only) can be used to

Start and reset Teradata Check status and versions of Teradata software Initiate various support applications Control GDO Editor (CTL) - same function as xctl Database Window (DBW) - activate the Teradata DB Window Database Initialization Program (DIP) scripts Vproc Manager - change state of vprocs, initialize a Vdisk, restart Teradata Connect to a remote Teradata node

Summary
Teradata utilities are either host-based or AMP-based. The host-based utilities run under the host operating system and support
user activities such as loading, backup and restore, and some maintenance functions for Teradata.

Examples include:
Load utilities (FastLoad, MultiLoad, etc.) Support utilities (pdestate, tpareset, etc.) archive utilities (arcmain)

The AMP-based utilities run on the database and are accessed through the
DBW.
