Theme
Choices

All of the characters are defined by their choices throughout the series, and all of them are given a chance at redemption through these decisions Voldemort is given a chance at redemption, but which he refuses

Power
This book shows us that people will do some of the dirtiest things for power, and the quest for it can bring out the worst in all of us Prime example of this is Voldemort, whose unquenchable thirst for power (in the form of the unbeatable, super-powerful Elder Wand) takes him on a torturing and murdering spree Moral The moral of the story is, power isn't all it's cracked up to be and we should all hope that we would have the same strength of character that Harry does when he's offered ultimate power, and turns it down.

Plot
Harry has finally come of age, and finally started on his final journey to defeat Voldemort for good. Harry is soon plagued with rumors of Dumbledores past, and begins to wonder if the Headmaster he so long revered might have had a much darker past than he ever let on. Harry and Hermione are devastated that Ron had abandoned them. Ron redeems himself a few weeks later by coming back and saving Harrys life in the nick of time. Whomever possesses the three objects (Resurrection Stone, Elder Wand, and Invisibility Cloak) will be a master of death, and to Harry, its his one chance to beat Voldemort and live to tell the tale. As his adventures and the danger hes in increases, Harry begins to truly understand what Dumbledore intended him to do. He realizes, almost at the last minute, that his own life will have to be sacrificed in order for Voldemort to truly be vanquished. Filled with love for his friends, he willingly gives his life so that they may live. He meets Dumbledore again in death, and Dumbledore answers many of his questions. He is given a choice to stay or to go back, and he chooses to go back and fight. After one spell, Voldemort is dead, and now Harry understands more than he ever has about love, and life, and sacrifice, and in spite of the loss of many of his friends during the last battle, is grateful for the second chance hes been given at life, and love.

Imagery
Imagery is the visually descriptive or figurative language, especially in a literary work. Autumn seemed to arrive suddenly that year. The morning of the first of September was crisp and golden as an apple, and as the little family bobbed across the rumbling road towards the great sooty station, the fumes of car exhausts and the breath of pedestrians sparkled like cobwebs in the cold air.

Flashback
Flashback is a sudden and disturbing vivid memory of an event in the past, typically as the result of psychological trauma The Pensive Snapes memories Lilly Potter Harrys life Dumbledores memories

Metaphor
Metaphor is a figure of speech in which a word or phrase is applied to an object or action to which it is not literally applicable "He[Voldemort] can run faster than Severus Snape when confronted with shampoo. -Weasley twins on Potterwatch
