Merchants also risk fraudulent purchase using stolen credit cards . Secure sockets layer (SSL) encryption has generally solved the problem of credit card numbers being intercepted in transit between the consumer and merchant. Identity theft is still a concern for consumers when hackers break in to merchants web page and steal name, address and credit card numbers

SOFTWARE ENGINEERING PARADIGM APPLIED

Software paradigms used is Waterfall Model (the Linear Sequential Model), which states that the phases are organized in a linear order. The waterfall model suggests a systematic, sequential approach to s/w development that begins at the system level and progresses through analysis, design, coding, testing, and maintenance and support

FUTURE ENHANCEMENTS

The users could subscribe for price alerts which would enable them to receive messages when price for products fall below a particular level. The current system is confined only to the shopping cart process. It can be extended to have an easy to use check out process. Users can have multiple shipping and billing information saved. During checkout they can use the drag and drop feature to select shipping and billing information.

LIMITATIONS

The main reason of the limitations is the Time Constraints. Due to temporal effects, some topics have been left undone and to overcome these work is still going on the project. Although security has been applied by maintaining the username and the password but still there are chances that the confidential information provided by the user may get leaked or tempered. This application does not have features by which user can set price ranges for a particular products and receive alerts once the price reaches the particular range.

CONCLUSION

The project has been designed to provide the user with easy navigation, retrieval of data and necessary feedback as much as possible. The shopping cart application described in this project provides a number of features like remove or add items to the cart that are designed to make the customer more comfortable. This project helps in understanding the creation of an interactive web page and the technologies used to implement it.
