Industrial Instrumentation
Instrumentation is defined as the art and science of
measurement and control of process variables within a production or a processing facility. An instrument is a device that measures a physical quantity such as flow, temperature, level, distance, angle, or pressure. Instrument may be remote or portable or connected to a control system.
Why Instrumentation???
Why Instrumentation???
Our senses are limited Human natural observation capabilities are generally
not designed for process conditions. Instruments have desired capabilities to match process conditions. Process Control has the role of a decision maker (Like brain) Instruments are our eyes and ears
and the physical world It quantifies the world we live in Process of measuring includes comparing certain value with a set standard Effective measurement ensures:
Safety of plant operations Economics of industrial operation Quality and Efficiency of production Maintenance of proper operation
Effective measurement
Water Bath Temperature
Heating Element
Effective measurement
