Pressure Temperature ratings for NPS to 24 Dimensions and tolerances. Classes 150, 300, 400, 600, 900, 1500 and 2500 Materials of flanges and fittings

Pressure-Temperature Ratings
Ratings are maximum allowable working pressures at the temperatures for the materials and rating. For temp. below 200 F, rating shall be that given for temperature 200 F Class 150 flanged joints may develop leakage above 4000 F, for other classes above 7500 F. Hydrotest of fittings shall be done at 1.5 times rating at 1000 F (No hydrotest for flanges). Bolting material shall be as per table 1B. Gasket material shall be as per B 16.20 or as given in Fig. E1. Table 2 gives the ratings for flanges & fittings. Bolt holes are multiple of 4 and straddle fitting center lines.

Facings
Raised face 0.06 in for class 150 & 300 (included in flange thickness) and 0.25 in for class 400 and above (not included in flange thickness). Male and female facings (large and small) projection and groove dimension shall be in addition to flange thickness. Tongue and groove projection and groove dimension shall be in addition to flange thickness. Ring joint projection and groove dimension shall be in addition to flange thickness. Ring joint facing dimensions are given in table 5. Other facing dimensions are given in table 4. Finish - Tongue/groove and small male/female contact surface shall not exceed 125 micro in roughness. - Ring joint side wall surface 63 micro in. - Other flange facings concentric serrated or spiral serrated finish from 125 micro in. to 250 micro in. average roughness - Cutting tool radius is 0.06 in and 45 to 55 grooves/in.

General
These are suitable for flanges as per Standard ASME B 16.5 and B 16.47. Ring Joint Gaskets :- either octagonal or oval. - identified by R number - hardness limit as per table 1. - surface finish not rougher than 63 micro in (RX and BX gasket are for API flanges) Spiral wound gaskets - used with raised face or flat face flanges - identified by flange size, pressure class and flange standard. - provided with centering ring , or centering ring and inner ring. - metal strip shall be 0.006 in to 0.009 in thick. - filler material shall be flush with metal winding and not under flush. - Filler material thickness shall be determined by the manufacturer.

- Inner 3 metal windings and outer 3 metal windings are without filler and are spot welded. Additional 4 outer metal windings may be provided to retain in the outer ring. - Asbestos filler metal is banned in many countries. - Centering ring thickness is from 0.117 in to 0.131 in. - Inner ring is to be provided where there is a likely inward buckling of the gaskets. - Inner ring thickness is 0.112 in to 0.131 in. - Gasket is designed for compression to a thickness of 0.130 + 0.005 in. - Centering ring material may be Carbon Steel.

Jacketed Gaskets
- Used with raised face or flat face flanges. (but normally used in face flanges) - Jacket thickness is 0.015 in. min. - Filler thickness is 0.06 in. min.

Scope
Standard covers overall dimensions, tolerances, ratings, testing and markings of size NPS through 48. Any producible wall thickness. Fabricated fittings shall be manufactured as per ASME B 31, code for pressure piping Pressure Ratings Allowable pressure ratings may be calculated as for straight seamless pipe in accordance with ASME B 31. Design ;may be done by analysis. Design may be established by proof testing. Dimensions Elbows and returns are long radius (LR)
