Al Baqarah 2:165

Yet there are men who take (for worship) others

besides Allah as equal (with Allah); they love them
as they should love Allah. But those of faith are
overflowing in their love for Allah. If only the
unrighteous could see behold they would see the
penalty that to Allah belongs all power and Allah
will strongly enforce the penalty.

Say: If it be that your fathers your sons
your brothers your mates or your kindred;
the wealth that ye have gained; the
commerce in which ye fear a decline; or
the dwellings in which ye delight are
dearer to you than Allah or His apostle or
the striving in his cause; then wait until
Allah brings about His decision: and Allah
guides not the rebellious. Tauba 9:24
Consequences of having more love
for someone other than Allah
One who has more love for his kin shall
not preferentially obey Allah. He will not
strive in Allah’s cause and will fear death.
More love of wealth will bring more greed.
It leads to miserliness and falling into
forbidden dealings like riba.
More love of land will bring prejudice,
divisions, fights.
 Love of Allah

Say: "If ye do love Allah follow me: Allah will love

you and forgive you your sins for Allah is Oft-
Forgiving Most Merciful." Say: "Obey Allah and His
Apostle"; but if they turn back Allah loves not those
who reject Faith.

On those who believe and work deeds of

righteousness will (Allah) Most Gracious

 Al Maida 5:54
O ye who believe! if any from among you turn back from
his faith soon will Allah produce a people whom He will
love as they will love Him lowly with the believers mighty
against the rejecters fighting in the way of Allah and
never afraid of the reproaches of such as find fault. That
is the Grace of Allah which He will bestow on whom He
pleases: and Allah encompasses all and He knows all
things.
Your (real) friends are (no less than) Allah His Apostle
and the (fellowship of) believers those who establish
regular prayers and regular charity and they bow down
humbly (in worship).
 Abu Hurairah reported,Prophet
(SAW) said:
Allah said: I will declare war against one who
treats with hostility a pious servant of mine
Most beloved way a servant of mine comes
closer to me is through “Faraids.”
My servant keeps getting closer to me through
Nawafil till I love him so much
I become his hearing, sight, hands and his legs.
If he asks me something, I shall give it to him
If he seeks my protection, I shall protect him.
 Aisha ® reported, Prophet (SAW)
Appointed a man as imam and he used to
conclude his recitation with Ikhlas. Prophet
asked him why he did so. He replied that
this Surah contains attributes of Allah and
he loved to recite it. Prophet then told the
people, “ Tell him that Allah loves him.”
( Bukhari and Muslim)
 Abu Hurairah reported that the
Prophet said
When Allah loves a servant, He calls out
Jibril and says: “ I love so and so; so love
him.” Then Jibril loves him. After that he
(Jibril) announces to the inhabitants of
heavens that Allah loves so and so; so
love him. Then the inhabitants of heaven
( angels) also love him and then make
people of the earth love him.

 Love for the sake of Allah
Prophet said: “Allah shall ask on the Day of
Judgment; ‘Where are those who loved for the
sake of my greatness? Today, when there is no
shade, I shall keep them in my shade.’ Muslim.
Prophet was asked “ When shall come the Day of
Judgment?” He asked him: “ What preparation
have you made for the Day?” The man said,”
Nothing but I love Allah and His messenger.”
The Prophet replied: “ You shall be with whom
you love.” Bukhari
 Prophet said
If a man loves his brother, he should tell
him that he loves him.” Abu Dawud
There are three things, that whoever
attains, shall find the sweetness of faith:
3. Allah and His messanger are dearer to
him than anyone else.
4. He loves a person only for Allah
5. He hates to return to Kufr as much as he
hates to be thrown in fire.
 Levels of Love of Allah
(Imam Ibn Taymiyyah)
1. Extreme adoration (Tatayum). Love for
Allah and Prophet over rides all other
relations.( One who loves for Allah and
dislikes for Allah, gives for Allah and
withholds for Allah indeed perfected his
Iman.)

 Ways to Allah’s Love
(Imam Ibn ul Qayyim al Jawziyyah)
1. Recitation of Quran with Tadabbar
2. Voluntary deeds of righteousness.
3. Continuous Zikr of Allah.
4. Giving precedence to what Allah likes
over one’s desires and whims.
5. Heart remains avid of Allah’s names and
attributes.
6. Observing Allah’s kindness favors and
bounties both hidden and menifest
 Ways to Allah’s Love
7- Heart being soft subdued and meek
before Allah.
8-Being alone with Allah at the time when
He descends in the last part of the night
reading Quran and doing Istighfar.
9- Sitting with the sincere righteous and
benefiting from their speech.
10 Staying away from all sins which become
a curtain between you and Allah.
