adding challenges or new responsibilities to an employees current job. providing employees with a series of job assignments in various functional areas of the company or movement among jobs in a single functional area or department.

an employee is given a different job assignment in a different area of the company. Eg. In Banking Sector, say in Andhra Bank, Oriental Bank, Punjab National Bank etc, the employees are transferred on a timely basis.

MDP

A management development program is a program initiated by a company's leadership to train and retrain managers within the company's structure. This program can train employees in how to effectively manage other employees, gain product knowledge, learn negotiating, business etiquette, and filling out companyissued documents. Management development programs differ among companies. For example, a car rental agency may hire a person into the management development program and require the employee to complete the program over the course of a year. This employee may be required to work different jobs in the organization so that he can understand each job and manage employees doing different jobs. This person may also be required to learn about the company's business partners and suppliers. The management development program can entail training of current employees to become managers, or can involve newly hired managers, who are taught the business through the management development program.

Advantages of MDP
The Management Development Program (PDD) adapts to the needs and challenges of company management in an increasingly more global environment. The PDD program entails a considerable investment both at personal and company level and helps managers to:

Develop a global and integrated overview of the company. Provide know-how and tools on company management in the new global economy. Revise attitudes of leadership, teamwork and personal commitment with the mission of the company and its long-term targets.

Achieve an ability to reason in a much more detailed, profound and complete way from a business viewpoint.
Accentuate the capacity of acting with a results-oriented business mentality, but also directed at the development of people, the company and society.

EDP

Encouraging employees to acquire new or advanced skills, knowledge, and view points, by providing learning and training facilities, and avenues where such new ideas can be applied. Employee development is the process of helping your employees acquire the skills they need to succeed. One obvious example is various kinds of training. Other developmental programs offer employees resources that they can use on their own to further their careers. Offering employee development activities creates a more versatile and prepared workforce to help move your company forward.

Methods of EDPs

Encourage employees to participate in conferences and seminars in line with their position and skill sets. Employees learn a lot of new things while on job itself. Write critical incident notes and share with all other related employees. Human resource professionals must provide manuals, guidelines, checklists, organization policies for the employee to know what he is supposed to do in the organization. Employees can also be provided additional responsibilities by their team managers. Job rotation also helps an employee to develop and enhance his skills. Ask employees to work in teams. Give adequate learning opportunities to employees. Performance appraisals also help in employee development.

a group of advanced students studying under a professor with each doing original research and all exchanging results through reports and discussions.

A conference is usually large, possibly taking up many rooms in a hotel or a convention center. It usually takes up several days. It can also describe a single, small meeting-for example,

Types of Seminar Based on the size and organizational aspects the seminars can be
classified in to four types. viz.
Mini seminar: Its coverage and scope are small and simple. A small population is enough to hold this seminar. A discussion held over the topic taught or to be taught with the students is known as Group discussion. Such group discussions held in an organized way within a class room, it is called mini seminar. This mini seminar gives the students training in questioning skills, organizing the information and presentation skills of seminar. A mini seminar is felt necessary because it gives good experience to conduct a major seminar at Institutional level. National seminar: An association of any kind particularly with academic or professional interest or an organization (Government, Firm, etc.,) conducts the seminar at National level is called National seminar. The subject experts are invited to the seminar for discussion. The Secretary of the seminar prepares the schedule and functionaries for seminar.

International seminar: Usually the seminar conducted by an international organization or agency is known as International seminar. Theme of this seminar has wider aspects. Globalization, Renovation, Atomic energy agreements, Policies implementation and modification etc., are examples for themes of International seminars. A Nation or its body can conduct or organize the international seminar.

Major seminar: The seminar conducted at an institutional or departmental level for a specific topic or subject is known as Major seminar. Usually students and teachers are participating in this type of seminar. This major seminar can be organized at department level for every month. A specific topic or subject is selected for the theme of the seminar.

Conference

a meeting for consultation, exchange of information, or discussion, especially one with a formal agenda Large gathering of individuals or members of one or several organizations, for discussing matters of common interest.

Different types of conferences

Conferences can include a variety of events such as roundtables, workshops, lectures, etc. Depending on objectives of the conference, the different types of conferences are:

A symposium is usually used to describe a small conference on a single subject. For example, a series of lectures on a single day might be called a symposium.
