CONTINUOUS TENSE
Indicates continuing action, something going on now. This tense is formed with the helping verb-to-be, in the present tense, plus the present participle of the verb (with an -ing ending)
Examples : 1) The team is arriving in two hours. 2) He is moving to Portland this summer. since the present progressive can suggest either the present or the future, it is usually modified by adverbs of time.
The past progressive is used to talk about an activity that was in progress at a specific point of time in the past. The emphasis/focus is on the duration of the activity in the past. This tense is formed with the helping verb-to-be, in the past tense, plus the past participle of the verb (with an -ing ending)
Is used to talk about actions which will be in progress at a time in the future. Examples: 1) I suppose it will be raining when we start. 2) This time tomorrow I will be sitting on the beach in Kelantan
is also used to talk about actions in the future which are already planned or which are expected to happen in the normal course of things.
examples: 1) The usrah will be held next week. 2) I will be staying in hostel during the holiday. 3) The postman will be coming soon.
Be to is used with base form to talk about official plans and arrangements. Examples: - The Prime Minister is to visit America next month. - The conference is to discuss Nuclear Tests
