Definition: process by which people exchange information, feelings, and meaning through verbal and non-verbal messages: face-to-face communication

1) Personalized level of how two people communicate

Example: Security guard saying good morning to everyone who enters in the building.

Activity 1 :Let us Communicate!


The one-minute silence 1. Pair off and sit opposite each other. 2. Look into the eyes of your partner. 3. For one minute, one can talk about anything he or she wants. 4. The other partner must listen without saying anything. 5. After one minute, swap roles.

Activity 4: Speed Dating


1) Each person should have a sheet of bond paper 2) Write any word at least 10 mm high and four categories of personal detail they would not mind telling people about (e.g. favorite music, food, movies to watch, dislikes, etc.)

3) Attach the paper with a scotch tape in front of their shirt. 4) Divide into two groups. 5) One group shall comprise of the outer circle, the other group the inner circle 6) The inner circle will be the moving circle. They shall be moving clockwise.

7) When the teacher says STOP!, the person in the inner circle will share about the personal information he/she has written with his/her date for the minute. 8) After one minute, the teacher will signal the person in the outer circle to share the personal information he/she has written.

How well we communicate with others is a measure of our interpersonal skill

The clarity of communication depends on the availability of information based on six simple questions: Who? What? Where? When? Why? and How?

Communication involves sending and receiving a message which is understood clearly. When we send and receive messages, not only do we speak, but we also send nonverbal messages.
