Sharing The Planet

Mathematics Data Handling: Students will conduct surveys using tally marks. They will record, analyze, and interpret data using bar graphs and Venn diagrams in order to help them make informed choices. Language Arts Reading: Students will read books related to our unit to learn how to gather information and take notes. Synthesizing and asking questions will be useful strategies throughout these process. Writing: Students will write animal reports to communicate their new learning. Listening /Speaking: Students will start using oral persuasion to support their ideas.

Language Arts Word Study: Students continue to learn word patterns to develop their spelling skills. Grammar: Students will develop an understanding of sentence structure and start reviewing their sentences for meaning.

Reminders
Holiday Inquiry: Please remind your child to take pictures of positive things people are doing for their environment. We will share them when we get back. Holiday reading and writing: Encourage your child to keep practicing their reading and writing in a fun way during the holidays. Write letters, keep a journal, read fun books.

Students will learn about animals. This will help build empathy towards the needs of the animals. From there, students will look into actions they can take in their everyday lives that will help with the protection of animals habitats and our planet.
