HMTs TRACTORS BUSINESS HMTs Tractor business commenced its operations in 1971 in technical collaboration with M/s MOTOKOV, Czechoslovakia Republic. Initially, HMT started the operation with the manufacture of 25 HP Tractor at the manufacturing plant established in Pinjore, Haryana State. Over the years, it has developed Tractors ranging from 25 HP to 75 HP. The company achieved market leadership in tractors by enlarging its range to cover most of the applications for the farming community. Currently the company has three tractor manufacturing units in India located at Pinjore in Haryana, Mohali in Punjab and Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh. It has a well equipped R&D Center duly recognized by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research , the Government of India.

HMT PINJORE
October 23rd, 1963 is the establishment day of HMT Pinjore.

Prime minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru inaugurated the 3rd unit of HMT factory at Pinjore.
Situated 22 kms away from Chandigarh on the national highway linking Shimla & Delhi.

The factory is spread over an area of approx. 850 acres.

it houses township, schools, banks and clubs for all round community welfare.

TRACTOR:
A tractor is a vehicle specifically designed to deliver a high tractive effort (or torque) at slow speeds, for the purposes of hauling a trailer or machinery used in agriculture or construction. Most commonly, the term is used to describe a farm vehicle that provides the power and traction to mechanize agricultural tasks, especially (and originally) tillage but nowadays a great variety of tasks.

FOUNDRY SHOP
A Foundry is a factory that produces metal casting. Metals are made to melt into liquid . liquid metal is poured in the mould. and removing the

mold material or casting after the metal has solidified as it cools. In this
process, parts of desired shapes and sizes can be formed.

entire machines used for heavy machine shop are SPM. It

increase the rate of production and give less fatigue to

HMT HEAT TREATMENT SHOP:

HT is done to obtain desired properties in steel. All components (manufactured in LMS) after undergoing machining operation are subjected to heat treatment.

HEAT TREATMENT AT HMT:

Hardening Quenching Annealing Tempering Normalizing Carburizing

HARDENING:
Hardening is performed on the various metals and its alloys to provide them with strength and wear resistance. It is accomplished by heating the component above its hardening temperature and quenching it in water. For medium carbon steel and high carbon steel temperature= 840C- 850C For other temperature= 770C 820 C

Engine shop
In engine shop mainly cylinder head , cam shaft connecting rod , crank case is forms . The casting from the foundry is machined in this shop . Here we use GPM such as coping machine in case of cam shaft.
