The control unit must include a digital printer. This must provide: Instantaneous rate of discharge. Instantaneous oil content (ppm). Total quantity of oil discharged. Time & date (GMT) Ships speed. Effluent flow rate.

Further information to be recorded on the printer: Overboard discharge status. Oil type selector setting (where applicable). Alarm condition. Failure (ie no flow, fault, etc). Override action (ie manual override, flushing, calibration 7 etc).

Instantaneous rate > 30 litres / nM. Total oil discharged > 1/30,000. Power failure. Loss of sample. Significant failure of the measuring or recording system. If the input of any sensor exceeds the effective capacity of the 10 system.
